2 Chronicles 16:9 “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him. You have done foolishly in this, for from now on you will have wars.””
Over the last few weeks, we have been talking about a CHURCH ON A MISSION. We have looked at the Importance of our Mission, how to be Strengthen for our Mission, and how to set the Priorities for our Mission. But what kind of People is God looking for do fulfill His Mission for the Church?
God chooses to use people! He has designed us to carry something greater and stronger than ourselves, the message of Salvation for mankind. He has also chosen for those people to have a standard of living for their lives. He wants us to be ...
A Holy People
Hebrews 12:14 “Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.”
Psalm 24:3-5 “Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully. He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation.”
Holiness is an across-the-board standard that applies to every man, women, and child of God’s people.
Holiness is not a cultural thing
Holiness is not a regional thing
Holiness is an attitude and lifestyle that transcends boundaries, social barriers and more
A Loving People
1 John 4:7-10 “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”
The power of love is amazing - it extends and covers
A Persistent People
2 Corinthians 4:7-9 “But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;”
The Christian faith is not one of speed, but endurance
Your character can often be judged by what makes you call it quit
2 Timothy 4:10 “For Demas, in love with this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.”
Demas was attracted by the things of this world
Acts 20:24 “But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.”
A Believing People
Romans 14:23 “But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because the eating is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.”
Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”
Do you TRY God or do you TRUST God?
A Foresighted People
Colossians 3:2 “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”
Let heaven fill your thoughts
Don’t spend your time worring on things from this world. DID NOT say not to be concerned… let’s not worry.
Hebrews 12:1-2 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”
A Surrendered People
Psalm 51:17 “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.”
God chooses to use a people that are holy, loving, persisten, believing, foresighted and surrendered. Is that you?
