It can help to repair a damaged and broken relationship, but it does not insist or obligate you to reconsile with the person who harmed you or release them from legal consequences.
Forgiveness will bring the forgiver peace of mind and set him or her free from anger, hatred, resentment and revenge, and enable him or her to heal and move on with his or her life.

!! A. Ask God for Forgiveness
Through prayer.

/ 23 Therefore, if you are offering your gift (offering, sacrifice) at the altar and there *remember* that you brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar.
First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.

!! C. Forgive Your Offenders
Those who hurt you.
Forgiveness will cost us a lot as we choose to *lay down our right* to have our offender owe us.
We *extend love and kindness* even when itis undeserved as we *trust God* to avenge our situation instead of ourselves.

The REASON We Forgive
We forgive because God in His mercy *first loved us* (1 Jn 4:7-8) and *forgave us* (1 Jn 1:9) and *granted us eternal life* (Jn 3:16; Rom 6:23) and *made us co-heirs* with Jesus (Rom 8:17).
On the cross, Jesus set us the example of forgiveness (Lk 23:34).
Holy Spirit will *empower* us and His love within us will *compel* us to forgive our enemies.
/ 14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
15 But *if you do not forgive others* their sins, *your Father will not forgive your sins.*

How Many Times to Forgive?
/ 21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me?

Conclusion
1. *We have a covenant relationship with God.*
A covenant is an agreement or a contract.
It implies that one party will do their part as long as the other party does thiers.
2. *We are children of God because of our faith, hope, trust, and belief in Christ*.
We are members of the Body of Christ and of His church.
We are people who have surrendered and yielded our lives completely to God for His use and purposes.
3. *We allow Him to decide what is best for our lives as our good Heavenly Father*.
And what He says, we will do.
Unless, of course, we decide to disobey Him and do otherwise, and be our own lord and reject His Lordship, grace, mercy, redemption, and eternal destiny.

44 But I tell you, *love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you*, 45 that you may be *children of your Father* in heaven.
