Genuine Conviction leads to Salvation, which results in transformation and fellowship.
Acts 2:37-38 “Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Continue Steadfastly in True Fellowship
Four Elements of a Healthy Church:
Right Doctrine
The teaching that they followed was what the Apostle’s had received from the Lord.
Matt 28:19-20 “19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.””
The teaching formed the basis of both confessional faith and practise.
1 Cor 15:3-5 “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.”
1 Tim 3:16 “Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.”
Spiritual Fellowship
This is fellowship in the life of the church.
We need each other for growth and encouragement.
Heb 10:25 “not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
Encourage, forgive, love, pray, bear one another’s burdens.
Communion
Breaking of Bread here indicates the Lord’s Table. 1 Cor 11:24-26 “24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you.
Do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood.
Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”
Prayer
They would pray for one another.
Prayer is not to be an after thought in the Christian life.
It is our vital connection to Almighty God.
Share Freely in the Body
As they were going about their daily business, they were buying and selling and meeting on another’s needs.
Socialism and Communism try to accomplish a sharing community by force.
The Holy Spirit transforms the heart of a believer so that you want to share voluntarily.
Witness Boldly in Society
Witness boldly, because it is God who adds to the church.
It is not up to you and to me to save people.
We simply must share.
It is the Lord who adds!
