One of the biggest battles we face is generational. Things we believe that were passed down from those who had authority over us.
It takes 7 years to digest Gum- Truth Gum isn’t digestable at all. Your body will just get rid of it usually within days.
Toads cause warts- HPV virus causes warts.
Coffee stunts your growth- Caffeine has been linked to calcium loss, but not enough to matter.
You’ll get sick if you go out with wet hair- the cold and flu are both viruses. It doesn’t matter how cold your head is.
A Camel’s hump holds water- their red blood cells and organs hold more water and process water more efficiently. Their humps are just fat pockets.
***You’re too much...
***You’re not enough
***You can’t
***Everything is up to you
***You’re a failure
*** Christian’s shouldn’t be tempted
If you’ve ever been told that following the will of God would be easy and full of blessings you’ve been lied to.
See there are many things we believe that aren’t true. The issue is when we believe them we can make them true. If you believe you are a failure you will fail…The issue isn’t that we are cursed the issue becomes our mindset.
In order to win the battle you must change your mindset.
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?”
Here is one of the main issues with our brains… we add things that shouldn’t be there. Kids are infamous for it, but it’s not always that they are trying to lie, but they actually believe you said it.
It is a known fact that police officers, when they arrive at a scene, try to get as much information as possible because from witnesses because the closer the tragedy the more reliable our story is. Time, when it comes to information, is not our friend. In an attempt to defend our mind our mind will begin to try to make sense of things and it will begin to add information that isn’t true to fill in gaps of any given event.
You don’t beleive me? Take a kid somewhere fun then ask them what they did 3 days later. The story grows. They aren’t trying to lie, but they are beginning to believe lies.
2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden,
3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ”
Parallel this with
17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
Lies believed gives the enemy the upper hand. Why were Adam and Eve so quickly deceived. She believed that one she touched the fruit she would die, but when she didn’t die on contact it was then easier to believe that she wouldn’t die when digested.
Here’s the issue: Some of you won’t even try things because you believe you’re a failure. And why try if you know you will fail. See the enemy has your truth so twisted that you can’t get out of your own way.
You can’t win the battle because you’re too scared to get on the field.
32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
What is the truth: Jesus is the truth.
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
When Jesus entered the wilderness to be tempted Satan entered a battle he could never win. You can’t argue the God’s word with the Word
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Jesus is the word. Jesus is truth. The issue is that often times we doubt ourselves because we don’t understand who Jesus is in our lives.
I may be a failure, but Jesus isn’t. And my future doesn’t depend on me. It depends on Jesus. and scripture says Greater is he who is in me than he who is in the world. So it doesn’t matter what you say about me. Because it isn’t me anyway.
listen you can come to my job site and tell me my tools are stupid. You’re probably right, but as Pete tells me all the time. You just have to be 10% smarter than your tool. It’s ok if the tool is stupid because the one using it knows what he is doing.
Satan by trying to get you to doubt yourself is trying to get you to transfer that doubt to God.
I already know Im foolish. The bible tells me so.
27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong;
Satan---tell me all things I’m not because in doing so you’re telling me all the things Jesus is in my life.
2 Corinthians 12:10 (ESV)
10 .... For when I am weak, then I am strong.
When I am weak God’s strength shows through.
So freedom
36 So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.
The key to winning your battle is to stop believing lies because everything you lack Jesus has made up for on the cross. Amen.
