Has the church lost it’s voice?

The girl I prayed for at the courthouse.

Church as I see it

I think that people look at the church and realize they don’t want any part of the disorganized chaos. Here is a list of some of the denominations we have under the christian umbrella
Catholic, protestant, baptists, lutherans, methodist, pentecostals, non denominational, 7th day adventists the list goes on.
Unfortunately we have traded presence for programs and we have traded presence for political power.
I can see why the world wouldn’t want any part of the church. The church is sick and in need of revival.
John 17:21 ESV
21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
1 Corinthians 1:10 ESV
10 I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.
2 Corinthians 13:11 ESV
11 Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.

Church History 33 A.D until now

33 A.D - 325 The Birth of the Church
This was the era when the letters or books of the new testament were written
There was great persecution of the church. The romans didn’t like what christians were doing because they were going against the rules and regulations. They killed Jesus and they thought that was the end of that and all of a sudden it was spreading like a wildfire.
325 - 590 Establishment of the Church
In 312 There was a roman emperor named Constantine. Now he claims that God came to him in a dream and told him how to win a battle and so he did win that battle. Converting to christianity he put out an edict which was a decree to stop the persecution of christians which gained him great political power.
From 318-325 we see the counsel of Nicea that was formed. There were several different counsels that were formed to help direct and guide what christians should believe. You have to remember this was before they had the bible.
From 590-1517 We see the rise of the Roman Catholic church. They had papas or popes that we implemented. These popes had great power and influence.
From 711-778 we see that Islam also began
1517 - 1648 Protestant Reformation
There was an Augustinian monk called Martin Luther - not martin luther king. But this dude comes on the scene and he had major issues with the roman catholic church. There was this thing called the sale of indulgences. The roman catholics believed in pergatory which was a holding place for sinners would go to purge their sins. If you had a loved one that you knew wasn’t saved that you could actually go to the pope or priest with money to pay for their sins to get a lesser punishment. Luther was so against this and therefore wrote the 95 thesis which was 95 reasons why he disagreed with the Roman catholic church. I don’t think it was a design for Luther to start his own church but in his protest of the roman catholic church his did creating the protestants.
1611 The king James bible was printed
1648 - Today we have The Enlightenment of the Church
We see Individualism, Reason, Skepticism and Science
Individualism- We don’t need to be apart of a church
Reason - We actually need a reason to attend church or be apart of a religion
Skepticism - We see a form of Godliness but the denial of power
Science - You have to prove your faith through science

Consumerism = Church (Worship team come up)

We are creatures of consumption and church happens to be apart of that.
You were never created to be a stagnant pond but to be a stream.
Christians have given the responsibility to reach the lost and to carry out the great commission to only those who have a title of pastor or evangelist.
Matthew 28:16–20 ESV
16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
