We have recently looked at Biblical examples for what it looks like to live as Christian leaders, even when you are students.
We’ve explored where to look to find good role models in Christian leadership, how to learn from them, and some of the importance of being leaders in our faith no matter how old we might be. Our topic today expands on what we’ve been learning, and more specifically, how to apply it.
The passage in Scripture we’ll be looking at today will help us consider what it looks like to live as followers of Jesus and also how that impacts our leadership.
(Pause)
Our Scripture passage today is in 1 Timothy, a letter written to the young man Timothy (Paul apprentice in ministry), and this letter shows Paul’s efforts to encourage and train Timothy in how he should be acting as a Christian and how he should be leading his church. Paul still wanted to train his apprentice into a Godly leader despite his youth.
Consider these 3 major questions as we read this in our Bibles:
WHAT is Paul expecting of Timothy’s life and behavior?
WHY is it so important that Timothy follow Paul’s guidance on how to live as a Christian leader?
HOW does studying God’s Word and living in these Jesus-like ways (while learning from Christian leaders around us) impact how we lead others to Jesus?
