The Beginning of Knowledge

1 The aproverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel:

But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

People who are sinful do not seek the wisdom of God, they like to stay in the dark.

7 eThe fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,

Fear meaning fear to not know of or understand God’s wisdom.

6 To understand a proverb and an enigma,

The words of the wise and their driddles.

Proverbs can be like riddles, unfolding one is to understand the difficult and sometimes confusing message and is wise.

5 cA wise man will hear and increase learning,

Wise people will continue to grow in wisdom and knowledge.

To know wisdom and instruction,

To 1perceive the words of understanding,

3 To receive the instruction of wisdom,

Justice, judgment, and equity;

4 To give prudence to the bsimple,

To the young man knowledge and discretion—

To listen and take the advise of Solomon a righteous man of God who was a seeker of wisdom for our Lord and was thirsty for knowledge. To use caution and good judgement receiving wisdom and receive from wise counsel.
