The Name of Jesus

Acts 4:10  Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

To begin with, brothers and sisters there is Power in the Name of Jesus.And the book of Acts is demonstrative of the Power in the Name of Jesus. The book of Acts is a continuation of the Gospels of Matthew Mark Luke and John. And then Acts.. Acts is the place where the disciples became apostles and recieved the Holy Ghost. Acts is the book where the church added and added and then multiplied souls to the Christian Faith. And So now we have a serious issue in Chapter three.

The bible tells us that there was a cripple man who was 45 years old. He had been in this condition for many many years. His family brought him to the gate at Herod’s temple that was called Beautiful. And everyday the poor man laid at the gate of the temple and begged. And one day at 3 o clock in the evening Peter and John came to the temple, because it was the designated hour of prayer.

And the bible says he started begging and Peter and John said look on us. And Peter said Silver and Gold have I none but such as I have give I thee, that at the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth Rise Up and walk. And immediately the man “look up got up and leap up Leaping and shouting and praising God. Everybody at the church were amazed, they were glorifying and praising God. And when Peter saw how they marvelled he started preaching and testifying from Acts 3:12 -26 Peter began to tell the story. Yeah and when you have had a personal experience with the Lord you can tell it everywhere you go. Peter said don’t marvel over this cripple man’s healing because it was the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth that healed him.Peter said you’ll are marvelling now but you’ll were the same ones who said crucify him2x and let a known criminal go free. God send His best to us and you’ll treated the Holy One Of Israel like He wasn’t nobody. Peter said all the prophets talked about the coming of the Messiah and when He actually came you’ll let Him be crucified.Then Peter’s famous words in verse 19 were “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. Because Repentance is a change of mind and Conversion is a change of Lifestyle. Teach me pastor. Peter said you ought to be thanking God for the Power in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Then amazingly we find chapter 4 in the book of Acts.. This is really where the rubber meets the road. Here’s where we find the great commitment to our faith at. Right here is where we ought to be able to proclaim the Name of Jesus. Listen 3x Preachers always preacher chapter 3 and shout on silver and gold have I none but such as I have give I thee in the name of Jesus rise up and walk. That’s great but it is the bases for the apologetic defense in Acts chapter 4. First of all let’s talk about Peter and John facing the same people who were on the sanhedrin council that ordered Jesus to be crucified. Here’s how it went as far as I can tell from what I read in the bible. Peter and John are ministering to the people because they have just witnessed a mighty miracle. The 45 years old cripple man that was healed was proof that there’s Power in the name if Jesus.

But the chief priest the temple soldiers and guards and the Sadduccees didn’t like what Peter and John were doing the bible says they were upset. 1.The pharisees were upset because Peter and John were preaching Jesus. 2. the cripple man was living proof of the power in the name of Jesus and then 3. the Sadduccees was angry because Peter and John were preaching that Jesus was resurrected from the dead by God the Father and that he was God only begotten Son. The Elders grabbed Peter and John and threw them in prison for the whole night. Wasn’t no call home for bail money and get my bail bonds man to get you out.”Peter’s message was so powerful until the bible says that about 5,000 people believed the Gospel Message. That’s why you got to preach and preach it right. So the next morning the rulers the councilmen the priests the elders and the temple police were all getting together . The high priest, his cousin deals, and his kangaroo court puppets were there. They brought Peter and John in and said By what Power or what authority or what Exousia did ya’ll do this? In other words we’ve been preaching and teaching and never reaching folk like y’all have popped up and done. Think about it!!! The man has been cripple for 45 years and laying at the Solomon’s porch the gate called beautiful “begging!!!” 3x. So everybody knew him.. And there he is in the midst of them standing like a natural man. The bible says in verse 8 that Peter got full of the Holy Ghost and said I don’t believe that you are questioning us about how a cripple man got healed. First of all you’ll should have be saying glory to God for the healing and y’all haven’t once told the man congratulations on his healing. And instead of celebrating with us you’re condemning us. Peter said, You put us in jail all night long for nothing But you know what?2x I’ll tell all of you’ll how this got his healing. Peter said in verse 10 it was the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.. The same one y’all crucified, the same one God raised from the dead. and That’s the same One that healed the cripple man.

Verse 11 say Jesus is the stone which the builders rejected and now He’s become the Head of the corner. In other words what you did for bad God turning it all around for the Summon Bonum the Highest Good God made Jesus Christ the head of the Christian Church.Oh brothers and sister they didn’t like Peter’s Preaching…And then what really burst their bubble was when Peter said 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Except the name of Jesus. You can’t be saved by any other name not no Buddha Mohammad Hinduism, tioasism,and many others Only the Name of Jesus. Only the Lilly of the Valley the Bright Morning star and the Rose of Sharon, You can only be saved but The Wonderful, the Mighty Counsellor, The Prince of Peace, The Everlasting Father, You can only be saved by Elohim, only by El Shaddai, Only by Jehovah Jireh, Jehovah Shalom, Jehovah Nissi and Jehovah Rapha. WE can Only be saved by the Holy One of Israel and His name is Jesus the Christ…

Peter said Only by the Name of Jesus and verse 13 says when they saw the bold confidence of Peter and John when they saw that they were unlearned but powerful, and when they saw that they had obviously been with the Lord, they marvelled. yeah 3x

And when you spend time with the Lord, Spend time reading and studying in the book. The late great Deacon Terry Jones said to me a long time ago Rev we can argue with you but we can’t argue with the book. because the book is always right.. That statement is more true to me now than ever before in my life. Because church believe it or not you can’t talk what you don’t know and you can’t lead where you don’t go.

And here in this text the proof is in the pudding verse 14 says that The man that was healed who had been a cripple for 45 years is standing right next to Peter and John and they knew not to say anything against the miracle that had been performed. So they said ah Peter and John and the cripple man that had been healed, y’all step out for a minute while we discuss this matter further. Y’all step out a minute..

When Peter and John and the man that was healed stepped out they said What are we going to do with these men? Y’all saw the miracle everybody saw the miracle We know that the cripple man was healed because we pass him everyday when we go to church too. But we’ve got to put a stop to this sect of Christianity. In other words we can’t let them keep on talking in the Name of Jesus. Because that’s the man we had killed.. The honest council men probably said “That’s the man that was resurrected from the dead” But The others perpetuated the big lie. The Sadduccees said They said Jesus didn’t get up! They went stole His body and made up the story about his resurrection from the dead That’s the Sadducee’s argument. They all said “anyway it go we’ve got to stop them from teaching and preaching in the Name of Jesus”. We’ve got to stop em!!! The bible says they called them back into the council room and threaten Peter and John and commanded them not to preach or teach in the Name of Jesus anymore.The bible says in 19 But Peter and John answered them, “You decide what God would want. Should we obey you or God? Wait 3x y’all Priests Pastors Religious Leaders Elders and Rev Drs of The Law of God Y’all decide.

In other words you have free will “go on bus a move” because God Himself is listening to you. I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t want God to hear me say “Hey don’t you Teach or Preach in the Name of Jesus just because they have an anointing that I don’t have. And Peter said I sorry but we can’t help but teach and preach about the things that we have heard and seen Jesus do. In other word do what ever you want to us but we are going to keep on Preach about Jesus. The council talking and yapping mindless jargon but they couldn’t do nothing with the bold anointing of Peter and John’s Preaching.

So they had to let them go because the people were still outside praising God for the Miracle. No doubt the man who had been cripple is outside of the council’s chamber Glorifying and praising and shouting and leaping saying thank you Jesus Oh God thank you.

No doubt his parents were out there. No doubt anybody who had an illness was out there. No doubt anybody who had loss hope they were out there No doubt anybody who had burdens trial and tribulations are out there.

And when men of God are a blessing to the body of Christ their gifts will make room for them to do effective ministry for God. When the people of Peter’s Church and John’s Church heard the good news they prayed from Psalms 2 But listen now it was a call and response type of praying “They said“Lord, you are the One who made the sky, the earth, the sea, and everything in them. 25 By the Holy Spirit, through our father David your servant, you said:‘Why are the nations so angry? Why are the people making useless plans? 26 The kings of the earth prepare to fight, and their leaders make plans together against the Lord and his Christ.’

Well I must close but tah Peter rehearsed the story of Jesus’ death, buried, and resurrection and the people would repeat it. And so the bible says in verse 27 These things really happened when Herod, Pontius Pilate, and some Jews and non-Jews all came together against Jesus here in Jerusalem. Jesus is your holy servant, the One you made to be the Christ. 28 These people made your plan happen because of your power and your will. 29 And now, Lord, listen to their threats. Lord, help us, your servants, to speak your word without fear.30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. 31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, And they spake the word of God with boldness.

There’s Power in the Name of Jesus It soothes my sorrows heals my hurts comfort my pains lighten my burdens lift my spirit and brighten my day Oh yes it does. Because when I talk about Jesus oh Lord I get so excited inside yes. When I talk about Jesus I think about my Rock in a wearied land and my shelter in the time of the storm.. The more I talk about Jesus the better I feel Call on Jesus Call on Jesus Call on Jesus
