I. UNBELIEF GRIEVES GOD
Hebrews 11:6 KJV (WS)
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Since faith pleases God and brings victory, and unbelief is the opposite of faith, unbelief grieves God and brings defeat to men. He is greatly grieved because of unbelief.
II. UNBELIEF IS BLINDING
Mark 5:39–41 KJV (WS)
And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying. And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
III. UNBELIEF AROUSED THE QUESTION “WHY?”
Psalm 78:19 KJV (WS)
Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?
Matthew 17:19–20 KJV (WS)
Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
IV. UNBELIEF MAKES PEOPLE NEARSIGHTED
2 Peter 1:9 KJV (WS)
But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
VII. UNBELIEF HINDERS GOD
Psalm 78:41 KJV (WS)
Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.
Matthew 13:58 KJV (WS)
And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
