This morning many of us are living our stories. We all have a story to live. You see this morning, but it depends on who we allow to write our story. This week I’m preaching from my story. I have had a lot of struggle over how my story has been written and what is continuing to be written. But I have a decision to make.
Joseph had the same decision. When Joseph’s brothers came to Him for food Joseph was 56 years old. He lived to be 110, butJoseph was in the middle of his life and thus far he had a roller coaster of a life. Sometimes we have to go through a wild ride to get the wild knocked out of us. When you join the military boot camp isn’t about conditioning. It’s about training. boot camp is hard no so they can physically build you up, but so they can rewire your mental process. Muscles are a biproduct, but your thinking is the goal. It’s why boot camp is designed to be hard so they can take the “Can’t” out of your language. Joseph had to go through camp. Joseph had to get his thinking right.
You see when Joseph’s brothers came to him and found out that they were dealing with their discarded brother Joseph laid it all out.
Genesis 50:20 (ESV)
20 As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.
Listen Jospeh may have been talking to his brothers, but you may even be looking in the mirror. How many of you know we can be our own worst enemies? Put your pain here. AS FOR YOU…
Whatever is coming against you may mean evil against you. Whatever is coming against you may try to slay you. Whatever is coming against you may be trying to get you to quit.
But This week
The key to your Battle is the COMMA
This this first part of the sentence is what is being done to you. You can’t rewrite the first part. It’s already done. You have to finish the sentence. You have to surrender the comma, Satan may have started the sentance, but how many of you read those choose your own ending books. There’s three ways your book can be written. You can continue to let Satan write your story. You can write your own story OR you can let God write your story. Joseph let God write his story.
You meant evil against me. BUT GOD MEANT IT FOR GOOD.
This is the hobbit that Joseph got in.Drop down to V 24
Genesis 50:24 ESV
24 And Joseph said to his brothers, “I am about to die, but God will visit you and bring you up out of this land to the land that he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.”
the fact remains, but the comma is still there. The hurt remains, but the comma is still there, The doubt remains, but the comma is still there. The struggle remains, but the comma is still there. There may be a bump in the road of life, but that just makes room for a comma. That makes room for the change.
Commas make room for God.
Last week we talked about our mindset, this week we talk about our actions. Are you willing to let God write your story?
I don’t care what chapter you’re on in your book there is always time for a comma.
Understand thing have happened to you. But God can’t get rid of generational curses. God can’t change generations without someone allowing God to control the comma. Joseph was put into slavery to save his children. You’re story isn’t just about you.
Ephraim and Menassah. Tribes of Israel. Received land in the Promised land because Joseph relinquished control.
God is using you right now to align your family. You’re here in this church right now to hear this message so that generations are blessed because of you.
But Pastor you don’t know how hard this is. You’re right, but you don’t know how long the curse your breaking has been around and you don’t know the ripple that will continue and how many of your children’s children are being set free. THIS IS A PATTERN IN THE BIBLE.
The women at the well found her comma and brought an entire town to Jesus. She fought the battle of her past. Listen. The man filled with legion-God rewrote his story and they were the first gentile nation to receive God after the death of Jesus Christ. He fought the battle of demons.
Peter-He fought the battle of stupidity and failure. And when Peter stopped arguing with God and got used by God Peter became a Spiritual giant.
Paul fought the battle of Religion and superiority. When God Got Paul on His knees stories were changed.
David fought the battle of never being good enough. But he became king when he gave it all to God.
Your battle is hard because your outcome is great.
You’re not just fighting for yourself. IF you give up now your son or daughter will have to a harder battle to get to the result you gave up on. This message is prophetic. listen. I’ve preached expository messages. I’ve preached topical messages. I’ve preached hard messages, and I’ve preace exciting ones, but this one is prophetic.
You’re past may have tried to kill you, but your future is waiting in your decision.
You are at a comma is in your story. What will be written?
Prayer rewrites history.
I you allow God to rewrite the story-He won’t change what has happened, but he can change how it affects you.
