Destiny
Destiny
So if you’ve been here a couple of months ago you probably heard me preach on the process we go through to reach our Destiny
Well it seems as though I can’t get away from this topic.
Here is why......
Because I believe that in this day and age that we are living in, God wants us to be so certain and concrete a in what our Destiny is
We’ve all asked this question at some point in our life...
WHY AM I ON THIS EARTH?
WHAT IS GOD ASKING ME TO DO?
WHAT AM I TO ACCOMPLISH IN MY LIFETIME?
We as a church are ought to ask ourselves these questions, because I can bet you God is asking each of us to do something…
I can promise you that attending Sunday Service is not your Destiny that God is calling you to.
Its important to stay in community but I will show later how thats not enough
There is something bigger thats stirring inside each of us and it’s bigger than us....and ladies and gentlemen I am here to tell you that there is a reason why when He asks you to do something that’s bigger than us
The reason why God will always ask us to do something bigger than us because
Here is what Paul say’s
2 Corinthians 12:9 (Chapter 12)
9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.
You see when we take the back seat and say only you God…His power will then manifest in our life.
Which that tells me that we should get excited that we don’t need to know it all
We don’t need to have the whole plan in place
We don’t even need to have it all together
We just need to be willing vessels
Doesn’t that just excite you to know that his grace on your life is so strong.
Now don’t get me wrong, if we have a sin we are dealing with let’s take care of that
Btw did you know that God is not afraid of your mess?
You see we a lot of the time project on God our own personal thinking, and our own judgement
So then we think God is thinking the same thing about us as we are about ourselves
I want to touch on this really briefly because it’s important to understand that when Jesus said
My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness
He very much was talking about our inner struggles, addictions, and sin, even sickness
A couple things I want to note.
Grace does not excuse Sin
Grace allows us an opportunity to turn from sin without judgement and condemnation
Grace also gives you the opportunity to step back into your Destiny despite of what you’ve done
What Jesus is saying is if you can acknowledge that you have sinned my Grace is all you need, and the areas where you can acknowledge that you are weak my power will flow in that area.
You guys this fires me up!
Like how great is our God that he will look past our mess and say my Grace is enough and where you are Weak I Am strong.
If we can let that sink in and take root in our heart nothing will feel too hard or too scary!
We have that promise from Jesus himself our only job is to believe that!
Here is the thing, it might feel hard and scary in the moment, but as soon as you step back in alignment with the truth, it breaks off you.
Story about Gina:
It just makes me think about Gina,
if you don’t know her story, God asked her to sell her house, buy an RV and pack her two handsome boys for an adventure. I remember when I came the morning of her final move and she completely broke down because I bet it felt scary, hard, all of it, on top of it all you get a call from your realtor who says your house is no longer sold but you have about 10 boxes left to pack. But I remember she said to keep her communion cups out because guess what I know she did, she went back to the source. Because she knows that in her weakest moment Gods power works best.
SO....
Is it scary at times? Sure....
Is it difficult at times? Absolutely
But you know what I do know is that on the other side of all that is a sweet fruit. As we dive into more scripture here we will see how being rooted in TRUTH will help you walk in your destiny.
As I was preparing for this sermon all of a sudden then topic about Destiny was coming up as I would be in conversations and scrolling on social media, so this video came up of John Bevere and I want to share this with you guys because it was so profound for me.....
He said
The only person who can take you out of your Destiny you....
No man
No women
No child
No demon
No institution
You.....
And then he said
If we take Moses the best Pastor in the old testament and his 3 million people congregation only 2 people fulfilled their destiny. Caleb and Joshua!
I was like WOAHHHH
So I went to the story in Numbers.
Let’s read this story… I will paraphrase a lot of it for the sake of time.
Numbers 13:25–33 (NLT)
After exploring the land for forty days, the men returned to Moses, Aaron, and the whole community of Israel at Kadesh in the wilderness of Paran. They reported to the whole community what they had seen and showed them the fruit they had taken from the land. This was their report to Moses: “We entered the land you sent us to explore, and it is indeed a bountiful country—a land flowing with milk and honey. Here is the kind of fruit it produces. But the people living there are powerful, and their towns are large and fortified. We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak! The Amalekites live in the Negev, and the Hittites, Jebusites, and Amorites live in the hill country. The Canaanites live along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and along the Jordan Valley.”
But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!”
But the other men who had explored the land with him disagreed. “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!” So they spread this bad report about the land among the Israelites: “The land we traveled through and explored will devour anyone who goes to live there. All the people we saw were huge. We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak. Next to them we felt like grasshoppers, and that’s what they thought, too!”
Paraphrasing:
We have 12 spies who go to scout the Promise land.
They all see the same thing.
They all try the same fruit.
They all bring back the same fruit
But what they all didn’t have was Faith.
In the wilderness they all saw the same miracles as Caleb & Joshua
They knew the goodness of God, they all tasted and seen the same thing.
They were in the same community, You see here it shows that being in a community is just not enough
You have to be rooted in God, community doesn’t follow you 24/7
So can you still believe in your destiny when you don’t your community hyping you up?
So then what caused them to have such a different look at the promise land?
What I believe was different was their intimacy with their Father
As I transition
How do I know that well....
Look at what Caleb and Joshua said
New Living Translation (Chapter 14)
5 Then Moses and Aaron fell face down on the ground before the whole community of Israel. 6 Two of the men who had explored the land, Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, tore their clothing. 7 They said to all the people of Israel, “The land we traveled through and explored is a wonderful land! 8 And if the LORD is pleased with us, he will bring us safely into that land and give it to us. It is a rich land flowing with milk and honey. 9 Do not rebel against the LORD, and don’t be afraid of the people of the land. They are only helpless prey to us! They have no protection, but the LORD is with us! Don’t be afraid of them!”
Paraphrase:
You see when I read this you can clearly tell that Joshua and Caleb KNEW the father.
They knew his character
They knew his is Faithful
And he will never leave them or forsake them
They knew God is for them
We are talking about conquering a nation with giants and they were so rooted in the goodness of God that they said “They are only helpless prey to us”
As we continue to read the people wanted to stone Caleb and Joshua
And then the presence of the Lord comes and......
New Living Translation (Chapter 14)
Then the glorious presence of the LORD appeared to all the Israelites at the Tabernacle. 11 And the LORD said to Moses, “How long will these people treat me with contempt? Will they never believe me, even after all the miraculous signs I have done among them?
You guys this honestly made my heart so sad reading this...
Because I had to ask myself how many times was this me?
I know what he has for me.
I know what he is asking of me
I know the goodness and faithfulness of my Father but I still choose to question him.
Thats because some areas I am choosing not to trust him in.
And here is the thing maybe what he is asking you to do will cause an uproar, and people will stone you with their words and accusations
But will you allow it to keep you from walking in your destiny?
And honestly most likely all of that will happen, but remember no one can take you out of your destiny but you!
I also can just tell you right now that you will face Giants on the way,
But you have a Mighty Powerful God on your side
Who says let my power flow in your weakness.
Ok get this! Its quite hilarious when Holy Spirit throws things like this.
I got the word Benchwarmers and i’ve seen that movie so long ago as a kid that I don’t even remember what its all about haha
But what I heard is if you’ve been feeling like a benchwarmer “The whole heaven is rooting for you”
Another word I heard is a lot of people are feeling “Inadequate” in their life
So I had to go look up what that word meant because I heard it so strong
Inadequate: Lacking the quality, or quantity required INSUFFICIENT FOR A PURPOSE.
If you have been feeling like this I want to pray for you at the end.
Because here is what I know “The God of this Universe” is fighting on your behalf.
I just kept hearing this morning “The Whole Heaven is Rooting for YOU”
Can you imagine if we all stepped into our Destiny.
Btw if you are sitting here and wondering what is my Destiny?
Well Destiny is an aftermath of a promise
We see that all through scripture
Starting with Abraham to Joseph
They all got a promise first
Abraham had a promise to have a son and his Destiny was that he would become a Father of A nation
Joseph had a promise through his dreams to become a ruler and his Destiny was to save a nation from famine.
By the way if you are a dreamer NEVER discredit what you dream because God can absolutely speak to you about your Destiny through a dream. We see that happening here with Joseph.
So all of that to say is we all have promises from God that He is waiting for us to Partner with so he can lead us into our Destiny.
And most of the time we will have more than one promise but you know whats so cool is if we partner with our Promises they will all lead at the end they will all lead to the bigger picture.
Makes me think about Jenny Donnelly
I remember the Drenched in Yelm 2013
she had a promise after promise after promise that she partnered with God on and some of them were different depending on the season but she is fully walking in her Destiny to gather 1 million praying women!
So as I am wrapping up I want you all to start un-digging some of those promises.
I literally see you guys putting on garden gloves, grabbing a shovel and going back to your Garden of promises. Start with partnering with one.
Some of them might feel easy and some might feel really scary and big .
