You Can Trust God

Scripture: Titus 1:1-4

Theme: Always Trust God.

Introduction: I came across this passage the other day and some things that the Lord taught me years ago about trusting Him that I wanted to share these with you tonight, considering the question, “Can You Trust God?” I believe in Titus 1:1-4, Paul gives us three reasons to trust God and what we can trust Him for.

Always Trust God Because He is Leading You (Titus 1:1).

The Lord is with us individually (“apostle”/responsibility).

Being a bond-servant calls attention to Paul’s complete devotion to serving the Lord.

Paul’s dedication to serving the Lord was in the Lord’s calling Him as an apostle.

The Lord is with all His people (“faith of those chosen”).

Just like the Lord had a unique service that He called Paul to, so He does for each of us.

While none of us are apostles, the Lord has called us to be … Ex. (Spouse, parent, children, employee, student)

The Lord has called each of us to be devoted to Him in those responsibilities that He has called for us to be faithful in.

The Lord is leading His people to grow (truth & godliness).

He’s given us His truth to instruct us how to be faithful (truth).

He is producing the right attitude pointing others to God’s working in our lives as we live faithfully (godliness).

Always Trust God because He will never lie. (Titus 1:2)

That is, God remains constantly trustworthy.

You can always count on God to tell you the Truth!

Always Trust God because He always keeps His promises (Titus 1:3).

God will never make a promise that He will not or cannot keep.

The ultimate proof of His was demonstrated in the resurrection of Jesus.

Always Trust God for Grace and Peace (Titus 1:4).

Grace and peace is one of the most consistent ways that Paul opens his letters: we need these each day.

Grace: God’s divine enablement to be faithful.

Peace: Confidence that we are God’s children through Jesus Christ.

Conclusion: Hopefully it is abundantly clear to you as it was to me in considering the truths of God’s Word that one can trust God. I can trust God because He will never lie, never change, and will always keep His promises. Will you trust God? You have every reason to trust God.
