This Week’s Theme: Real Conviction

This Week’s Word is Conviction: The term refers to a state of being convinced; i.e., the holding of a strong belief, especially a conscious awareness of one’s guilt and the atoning death of Jesus Christ as the means of remission of that guilt.

Memory Verse: 1 Corinthians 15:58 “58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”

Essence of the Text in a Sentence: Daniel’s walk with the LORD provided him with advancement and adversity, but he still continued with the LORD.

Sermon Proposition: Every Christian should understand that advancement and adversity should not stop their walk with the LORD.

Sermon Objective: I want those in attendance to attest to the truth through their words, ways, and work.

Sermon Text: Daniel 6:10

INTRODUCTION:

TRANSITION:

I. BASED ON YOUR POSSESSION

Daniel 5:11-12; 6:3; Genesis 39:3-4, 22-23; 2 Corinthians 4:7;

Explain: Daniel 6:3

Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit [was] in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm.Daniel distinguished himself.

He was different then the other leaders in the realm.

What made him different?

I’m glad you asked me.

Look at the verse.

He possessed an excellent (surpassing, great, abundant, extraordinary) spirit within him.

Chapter 5 provides some insight Daniel 5:11-12

Recognized that God’s Spirit dwelt in him

Recognized that with His Spirit came knowledge, understanding, interpreting dreams, riddles, and enigmas Are you practice, custom

POTIPHAR RECOGNIZED THAT the LORD was with JOSEPH.

Look at Genesis 39:3-4

ALSO REMEMBER JOSEPH ENDED UP IN PRISON AND EVEN IN PRISON THE RECORD SAYS IN GENESIS 39:22-23

LIVE IN YOUR CLASSIFICATION

Are your coworkers, neighbors, etc. able to see that you have been born again?

If yes, share what you are doing with the class?

II.

BASED ON YOUR PRACTICE

Daniel 6:4; Ephesians 5:22, 6:7; Colossians 3:22-23; Revelation 2:10

Explain: [know this about God / know this about man]

Commitment to a relationship with God or fellow human beings; seen in that loyalty, devotion and service which is a reflection of God’s own faithfulness.

Scripture points to the faithfulness of Jesus Christ as an example for believers

Continued to Stay Faithful to the LORD or glorify Him or honor Him

Serve God plain and simple

Nothing falls outside this mandate

Everything a Christian does should be in service to God.

SAINTS OF GOD

Perform in the fear of God

BE Guided by the hand of God

LIVE Based on the Word of God

WORK through the power of God

BE Directed by the wisdom of God

STAY Devoted to the glory of God

Everything you do with your Time, Talent, Treasures, Temple as a saint, a disciple, a follower of the LORD Jesus should be to honor and glorify Him

Eph 6:7; Col 3:22-23 When you work

Eph 5:22 Wives as a spouse you submit to your husband, as unto the LORD

LIVE CONSISTENCY

When a Christian has not been faithful to Christ at work, at home, at school, at church, in the community, his or her first step is to repent.

Walk through the list below and identify which step you have been leaving out.

Address everyone involved

Avoid saying, “if you had not” (blame shifting), “but” (this cancels out what you admitted to), or “maybe I was wrong”

Admit specifically what you did wrong don’t be generic

Apologize for hurting or wronging them

Accept the consequences of your actions

Ask them to forgive you

Alter your ways (develop a plan on how you will live differently)

III.

BASED ON YOUR PERSUASION

Daniel 6:7, 10; Romans 4:21; 8:38-39; 2 Timothy 1:12;

Explain: Look at the actions of Daniel in verse

HE KNEW WHAT WAS SIGNED ACCORDING TO VERSE 6

HE KNEW IT WAS firm decree,

HE KNEW THE STATUTE.

HE COULD NOT petitions any god or man for thirty days, except you, O king,

HE KNEW THE PUNISHMENT.

HE WOULD be cast into the den of lions.

YET IN VERSE 10

HE WENT HOME

AND CONTINUED TO BE FAITHFUL TO HIS GOD

IN HIS UPPER ROOM, WITH HIS WINDOWS OPENED TOWARD JERUSALEM

HE KNELT DOWN 3 TIMES THAT DAY (HE PRAYED AND GAVE THANKS BEFORE HIS GOD

HIS CUSTOM SINCE EARLY DAYS (ALTHOUGH THE WORLD CHANGED HE DID NOT CHANGE HIS CUSTOM, HIS PRACTICE

IT IS NOT EASY TO

BELIEVE WHEN OTHERS DOUBT

GO WHEN OTHERS STOP

LOVE WHEN OTHERS HATE

ABSTAIN WHEN OTHERS YIELD

STAND WHEN OTHERS FLEE

YET, DANIEL STAYED

Tranquil in the midst of Trials

Courageous in the midst of a Crisis

Brave in the midst of Battle

Daring in the midst of Danger

Heroic in the midst of Hardship

Persevering in the midst of Pain

And Determined in the midst of a Difficulty

HOW? HE STAYED the course

AS CHRISTIANS WE ARE CALLED TO STAY THE COURSE

DON’T Be weary in well doing.

You will reap if you faint not.
