to develop Christlike convictions (thinking), Christlike character (feeling), and Christlike conduct (acting).
J. I. Packer says that “the proper aim of preaching is to mediate meetings with God.”
“The great design and intention of the office of a Christian preacher is to restore the throne and dominion of God in the souls of men.” Cotton Mather
While preaching is a spiritual event, it is also a skill that is rooted deeply in methods of communication that can be learned and improved.

Preach more about what He is than about what we aren’t

Avoid making yourself or your church the Hero

“Arkansas is looking to us for what they need to be”
As preachers, we want to be careful and avoid speaking too highly of ourselves. The pulpit is not the place to boast in ourselves, our accomplishments, and portray ourselves as the hero. The metanarrative of Scripture communicates this profound truth: Jesus is the hero of the story.
The Apostle Paul says,
2 Corinthians 4:5 NKJV
5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake.
1 Peter 2:9 NKJV
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

Don’t make too much of a big deal about having a word from God.

If you do, they’ll know it, and
If you don’t, they’ll know it.
Let them come to the conclusion that it is a word from God.

Avoid Unnecessarily Offending Other “Christians”.

If you ask them to be Radical - Define Radical
