First Fruits

A first fruit is literally the first fruit or the first evidence of something new.
First of a Kind is labeled as Firstfruits in the bible.
It is a name of honor and faith that there will be more of that kind of fruit in the future.
First Fruit is the very first fruit.
It means there is no other like it yet.
Firstfruits is the first fruit before you see any other fruit.
Sometimes it takes 3 to 4 generations to see the fruit.
Jesus was the ultimate first fruit. (1 Cor 15:20, 23)
There was no other like Him YET!!!
He gave Himself, so it secured the future of their being others.
Churches were first fruits.
The ones in the upper room were a first fruit.
The apostles were a first fruit. (Rom 8:23)
Romans 8:23, 1 Corinthians 15:20, 1 Corinthians 15:23, 1 Corinthians 16:15, James 1:18, Revelation 14:4
All the examples of Firstfruits in the new testament are of a relational context.
It is almost like the people who are being called firstfruits are being honored with that title.
Jesus being the main example.
Church groups who gave their lives.
People who kept themselves pure sexually.
It is important to note that almost all people and groups that were honored with the title Firstfruits, were martyred.
They gave their lives, so there can be more fruit of the same kind after them.
All the examples of Firstfruit in the new testament are about people giving their life for others.
What does Firstfruits look like in my life?
Jesus lived and died as a Firstfruit for us not for himself.
Firstfruit is for others and most commonly represents dying for others.
Living for your future and for your children’s future.
Example:
If you have an argument with a friend, be the first to forgive or ask for forgiveness.
Be the first to believe in someone even if they have not earned it yet.
Jesus believed in you and me before we earned it.
"Be the first"
In forgiving
To believe in others and who God says you are.
To trust
To listen
To give
Time
Affection
Empathy
Maybe you are the first to hear from God on a subject that it seems everyone is ignoring it, be the First to live it.
Not to get other to live it, but you be the First of a Kind.
If you become the first of a kind there will be other fruit after.
2 Thessalonians 2:13 ESV
13 But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.
The word firstfruits in the bible verse is also translated beginning in other translations.
If your a firstfruit then you represent the beginning of that kind of fruit to humanity.
Examples:
Nelson Mandela
Elvis
Steve Mason
Brene Brown
Dr Caroline Leaf
Danie Hanson
James 1:17–18 NASB95
17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. 18 In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.
Every good and perfect gift comes from Father.
You are good and you are a perfect gift from above.
He spoke truth and here you are.
You are a kind of first fruit among humans.
Father is speaking words to you that are cleansing you.
Father is speaking words to you that are alive in you shaping you and bringing life to you.
Father is speaking words to you that are making you a first of a kind.
Have you asked for God to give you someone to show you the way?
Have you had this inkling that a better way exists but you cant quite see it so you wish someone would just show you?
It is time for you to become a first fruit.
Become the first of a kind.
There is something about FIRST that sets the tone for what is to follow.
Anointing and mantels
I heard a great man of God tell a story about what he says when people ask him for his anointing.
Father as anointed you to be yourself.
Instead of reaching out to be like someone else, what if we except who He says we are and we activate that anointing in you.
What are some ways Jesus was a First of a Kind?
How did Jesus become the FIRST fruit?
He forgave first.
He gave first.
He believed first.
He was first to heal gentiles.
He was the first to live as a son....
He was the first to live parnered with Holy Spirit.
He was the first to beat the power of death.
He was the first to willingly lay His life down for all of humanity.
In the middle of being killed by people who looked like they knew what they were doing he said: "Forgive them they do not know what they do."
So how was Jesus a Firstfruits?
Jesus is the first fruit.
If you are the first of something, their is no others yet.
Jesus is the first fruit of a way of life that had not been seen before, and He was the first of a kind in what Love in flesh looks like.
The first who lived as a fully alive human-being the way Father had intended.
Closing:
Our Father wants you to be a First of a Kind.
What kind of a person has He put in your heart to become?
What kind of a person have you longed to discover, but have not seen yet?
Every good and perfect gift has come from your Father and you are one of those gifts.
What words has He spoken and planted in your heart that He is drawing on to become a firstfruit of those words?
Father is speaking words to you that are making you a first of a kind.
Read James 1 and see what Holy Spirit reveals to you.
Activation:
What words has Father given you to become a fruit of?
Share those words with each other.
