What my Life is like Now.

1 Corinthians 11:23–34 NKJV

23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. 27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world. 33 Therefore, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another. 34 But if anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, lest you come together for judgment. And the rest I will set in order when I come.

· In most Church contexts, Communion is called “Holy Communion” I wonder if we lose some of its uniqueness when we don’t see it as Holy.

· When something is Holy, it is for the Lord. The Communion of the saints is Holy because, as a people, we have been set apart.

· It is also a means by which we are reminded of the cost of our redemption. Some churches require confession and acts of contrition before Communion can be taken. At the Rock. We encourage you to take a moment given for silent prayer and use that time for personal inventory and repentance.

· There are people here on the ministry staff to help you should you need them to help you pray.

· We make Communion Holy or Common by our approach.

Acts 26:19–23 NKJV

19 “Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, 20 but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance. 21 For these reasons the Jews seized me in the temple and tried to kill me. 22 Therefore, having obtained help from God, to this day I stand, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses said would come—23 that the Christ would suffer, that He would be the first to rise from the dead, and would proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles.”

1. Where are we in the Text?

Acts 26:19–20 NKJV

19 “Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, 20 but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance.

a. The Apostle Paul was not disobedient to the the heavenly vision.

notice that he did not blowviate about the vision that he had but rather he spent time talking about His response to the word that was spoken.

b. The Apostle Paul names places a purpose.

He declared.

First in Damascus.

Jerusalem.

throughout Judea.

Then to the Gentiles.

What did he declare ?

He Declared three things:

1. They should repent.

2. Turn to God.

3. Do works befitting

What was the reaction?

Acts 26:21–23 NKJV

21 For these reasons the Jews seized me in the temple and tried to kill me. 22 Therefore, having obtained help from God, to this day I stand, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses said would come—23 that the Christ would suffer, that He would be the first to rise from the dead, and would proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles.”

The reaction was they wanted to kill Him!

(verse 22) The Lord Helped him!

He us still giving his testimony!

He is testifying that Jesus is the fulfilment of prophecy that Moses gave!

Christ suffered.

He would be the first to rise from the dead.

Finally, that He would proclaim the light to the Jewish people and the Gentiles.
