What is the meaning of “glory to God alone”?
And when the priests came out of the Holy Place, a cloud filled the house of the Lord,
so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord.
Glory is used to describe the weight of the reality of God.
I am the Lord; that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols.
Glory is also then the recognition of God as He is.
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
All creation exists to glorify God, to recognize Him as He is.
For my own sake, for my own sake, I do it, for how should my name be profaned? My glory I will not give to another.
Every act of God takes place so that we may know His glory - know Him as He is.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
The gospel exists to show us God’s glory - to show Him as He is.
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace:
whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Every gift and service is to bring God glory - to serve Him as He is.
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
Every act of life is to bring God His glory - to honor Him as He is.
Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!
The practical consequence of glorifying God is self-forgetfulness - to know ourselves as we are.
So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.
For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,
Christian life transforms us and prepares us to stand forever in the presence of the glory of God.
