Prayer
Lord, thank-you that we can gather today to hear your word. May it be your words we hear, guided by the Holy Spirit. May we each humble ourselves to learn what it is in this moment you want to teach us. May todays message spur us on to be bold to declare Your good news to the people you put on our hearts. Amen

Fellowship
Like last week we looked at the story surrounding the 10 commandments - the test of trust. This week it is Jesus on the mount giving the same sermon that is to point poeple to right relationship with God.
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
Jesus has given a great lecture but he ends with a call for a responces - to obedience, to trust a foundation on him in the storm and to know him by being his Apprentice
Not dis-similar to last week
Respond is Obedience
Respond is Obedience
The Gospel according to Matthew (10. True and False Discipleship, 7:13–27)
The little parable about the one man building on rock and the other man whose foundation was sand emphasizes the importance of acting in accordance with Jesus’ teaching. It is one thing to hear what he said and even approve of it; it is quite another to obey. But it is only obedience that results in solid achievement. ... All either respond to Jesus’ words or do not; there is no other possibility.
those that do (obey) the fathers will (participate ) and those that only see the work of the lord just want addmission(sit and watch).
When we participate taking the word and putting it into practice, we build a foundation.
At the strageic planning arvo those moments of putting Jesus words into practice is what have become our proudest moments as a church and it is a great foundtion to build on.
Like cancelling the service to go help someone in need, hosting street parties, changing lives through basketball and christian endevour
Community that unites to do the work and be the love of Christ - what a response of obedience
Respond is Trust
Respond is Trust
And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.
Every buiding faces the weathers variations like we face life’s ups and downs.
Our house in a flood zone.

great foundation for ministry
Like last week we had Isreal at the foot of the mountain and they had seen the miricles of God but they showed they did not trust God with their lives and what he said.
As an apprentice, when a moment comes, a test there is only 2 options (well the 3rd is we miss it all together, which is the foolish builder that just rushes a head), To trust or not to trust.
Multipule choice test - when I was in uni I had one exam that was mulitiple choice there was one correct answer and 3 incorrect.
Now I wish life was that straight forward. that the right response was in neon lights.
A lot of the time that is why Fellowship is so important.
I remember when Maria and I was deciding when to get married. the over welhming response was - God will be with you.
wether to take up this job or stay at citywide - God will be with you
My life has been built on a good foundation, I do not say that to boast of my own achievents but to glorify Jesus.
I remember listening to someone that had a dramatic conversion the response was amazing (drugs, total u-turn) not my story.
But he said to me the people that inspire me are those that have been faithful all their life. They continue to choose Jesus when temptation comes, they remain to build the good foundation.
Tests are opportunities to demonstrate and build godly character by trusting God to do something difficult, unlikely or impossible.
Reflect - Recognise - in our heads maybe discussed but Respond demonstrates the belief we have in Jesus.
This week for me - busyness, house, family, preaching, strategic plan, connecting
Can feel to busy for time out, but I can be foolish and burn out or wise and take time
Respond is Knowing the Master
Respond is Knowing the Master
Focus on Jesus
The Gospel according to Matthew 10. True and False Discipleship, 7:13–27
It is teaching with a strong undertone of warning as well as with much to comfort and inspire. We neglect the warning at our peril
The scooters around town
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’
Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
Back to my test, there is being aware and there is knowing
Jesus invites us to know him, and when we make a mistake, like a good master he is patient and teaches us again how to build on a good foundation of obedience and trust.
Moving from our heads to action is the hardest part,
