The Wedding

Betrothal

The Father of the groom goes and finds a wife for his son

the father pays the price for the bride (the Dowry)

the father brings the son to meet the bride

the son gives a glass of wine to the girl and if the girl drinks the wine then the deal is sealed. the feonce has accepted the man to be her husband. this is called the cup of joy

The son then goes back to the fathers house and builds on a room for him and his new bride

the bride prepares herself wakes the wedding dress, her brides maids help her

the bride stays alert for the return of the groom for her

meanwhile the groom is building their new home attached to the fathers house

When the father sees that the house is completed he tells the son wake up its time to get your bride

the groom grabs his groomsman and with a trumpet they parade through the town waking everybody up and they follow the groom to the brides house to snatch her away. the wedding is a highlight of the town so everybody gets involved

The bride is put onto a chair that is carried back to the grooms home

there the marriage is consummated and there is a great feast
