Genesis 37:5 KJV 1900
5 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.
We’ve all had different experiences as far as growing up
We think strength
Flawlessness
Charisma
Humility seemed like a losers way
We look for ease and comfort but it is in those conditions that God’s people can get into backsliding
You can be spiritually alive and physical blessings
There is a danger to getting more things
because it puts us to sleep as to how much we need God
How much do you need God? Are you desparate for God
Physical things is not our goal
God Does not use people until He breaks them.
Our life purpose is not nurtured by how good things are but by the difficult things that bring us to a place of brokenness
Jeremiah 4:3 (KJV 1900)
3 For thus saith the Lord to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.
What moves you to seek God
What moves you to search Scriptures
Are you intentionally seeking Scriptures
When things are easy we don’t seek God
Hos 5:15 I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.
God is more commited to you knowing Him than any other relationship
He will allow relationship failure
It’s in the losses of life that He teaches us the greatest
Wealth and good circumstances can lead us back to the carnal life
Make sure you are walking humbly or God will send the breaking
Uncultivated unuseful ground that nothing can grow on
Weeds, Thorns, Rocks
Tares and the wheat look alike
At a certain point
Examine your heart
Examine your family
Are we passionate about the things of God
Taking children to a Christian school
Homeschooling your children
Taking children to church
Break up your fallow ground
What does our family value above anything else
What would they be the most distraught over if lost
What does our family speak about the most
What brings our family the greatest pleasure
What do we have the most fun doing
Do we really want fruitfulness and productivity in our life
Break up the fallow ground
Mat 13:7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
Mat 13:22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
Mar 4:7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.
Mar 4:18 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,
Luk 8:7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.
Luk 8:14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
Jer 4:3 For thus saith the Lord to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.
We have spiritually unproductive lives if we wont remove the thorns
If the thorns aren’t removed there will be no fruit
There is no building without breaking
Children learn brokenness
We learn brokenness
Dreams
Ideas
Ministry
Marriage - God uses marriage to break us
God uses other Christians to break us
Brokenness allows us to awake to our relationship with God
Running from brokenness will not help you
People get hurt in family
People get hurt in church
Brokenness allows us to look at our flaws
Brokenness allows us to allow God to show us what we need
Disease
Financial crisis
Divorce
Abuse
God brings brokenness into our life
In my life God has brought brokenness
This is how life is going to work out
God is working on us to make us into what he wants us to be
Gen 32:22 And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok.
Gen 32:23 And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and sent over that he had.
Gen 32:24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.
Gen 32:25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.
Gen 32:26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
Gen 32:27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.
Gen 32:28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
Gen 32:29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.
Gen 32:30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
Gen 32:31 And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.
Gen 32:32 Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob's thigh in the sinew that shrank.
God broke Jacob
Pastor I’m praying for that is going through a difficult time - health issues
Pastor I pray for that his wife is in pain all the time
God allows wounds and then uses them greatly
God will touch our life to use our life
Jacob was crippled and then used by God
Mar 14:3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.
Mar 14:4 And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?
Mar 14:5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.
Mar 14:6 And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.
Mar 14:7 For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.
Mar 14:8 She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.
Mar 14:9 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.
Coull it be that if we were pain free
Problem free
Persecution free
We would also be free of the power of God
Our family needs more of God’s presence
Our church needs more of God
Our community needs more of God
Let God break your dreams so that he can put life into the dream He has for you
What is the condition of the ground of your life
We could have everything we need and want and yet be void of God’s power in our daily lives
