Leading up to our passage, three women have been through a very difficult season! In this day, women received no right or respect from society, and solely relied on the men for survival. All three of these women had lost there husbands, and were at a crossroads. Believing that she was doomed, The mother in-law gives her daughters-in-law the option to leave. What would they do?
Read Ruth 1:6-18.
Have you ever felt like you were in a situation that felt hopeless?
In those seasons, are the right choices always clear or obvious?
Ruth and Orpah made choices that would seemingly result in radically different outcomes.
How does Ruth’s decision of faithfulness reflect that of a Christian today? What can we learn from her?
Society would have taught Ruth that this decision would doom her to starvation, Homelessness, or much worse.
But we see that Her God honoring decision would result in an outcome that she never expected!
Read Ruth 2:1-9.
Boaz then goes through a long and sacrificial process to Take Ruth as his wife. He had to put his name and reputation on the line to do this, because He knew that She and Naomi were worth it!
Do you ever feel like you aren’t worth it?
What causes us to feel this way?
A really cool fun fact, is that Boaz is Known as the Kinsman Redeemer. Why does this matter? because when all seemed lost for Ruth and Naomi, Boaz came to the rescue and redeemed what seemed to be broken.
Jesus is from the family line of Boaz, and does the same thing for us today.
Do you think that Ruth was able to use the hard things that happened in her life to show people the love of God? This is called her Testimony
How can we do the same thing with our testimony?
