Glorifying God

Theme: Glorify God.

(What?) Glorify God by making God’s greatness known!

I’ve heard it said that glorifying God is like a telescope.

[?]A telescope allows us to take something far away and give us an up-close view. (understanding through study; appreciation through beauty)

Our lives are to be the same with God. (behavior; attitudes)

We know how great God is! (Creator, Sustainer, Perfectly Righteous, Savior)

(Want?) When you sin, you neither want to nor glorify God (Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”).

Sin: what we think, say, or do that displeases God by disobeying His Word.

In sin, we make ourselves more important than God, Who deserves first place because He is great above all.

Christ died for our sins, therefore, we should hate sin.

(Why?) Glorify God because you belong to Him, if Jesus is your Savior. (I Corinthians 6:20 “For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.”)

Believers are purchased at the price of Christ's death.

Believers belong wholly to God. (ex. Cookies: Purpose - eat/share)

(How?) Glorify God through obedience to His Word. (Philippians 2:8, 11 “[Jesus] Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross … [the result] and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”)

Christ‘s complete and perfect obedience to God brought God glory!

You and I must rely on the Holy Spirit to empower us to obey God according to His Word.

Regardless of what happens, obeying God is always worth it, because He is great above all.

(When?) Glorify God all the time. (I Corinthians 10:31 “Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”)

You can glorify God in something as small as eating or drinking!

Glorify God in everything that you do, even the Grand Prix (Instead of complain [Php 2:14], be grateful [1 Th 5:18]: win, place, or participate).

Conclusion: Salvation invitation; Believer, Always Glorify God in obedience, not sin, because Jesus died for you!
