Why are we here?

What is purpose of Sunday School?

2 Timothy 2:15

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

What is the goal of this class?

Confirm the disciples decision in trusting Jesus Christ as their Savior

Confirm the disciples submission to proper biblical authority

To teach, help, encourage and build-up a disciple of Jesus Christ - through His Word and not mans

To develop a love relationship with Christ

How are we going to do this?

Track attendance - Accountability

Prayer - Responsibility

Discuss lessons thoroughly

Provide daily challenge to study lesson material

Review questions from those in class presented throughout week via text or email

Develop relationships that will edify one another

Challenge class to grow personally and share Christ with others confidently

The process on becoming a “workman that needeth not be ashamed” will be completed by taking Baby Steps through “the word of truth.”

Develop a habit of using 3-R’s as a student:

Read

Before you ever begin reading and studying your Bible (or anything you ever set out to accomplish) it is good to learn the principle of prayer - asking God to open your eyes to things in His Word.

The Bible is a spiritual book and the natural man fights the flesh in their attempts to understand it and apply it in their lives.

Asking God to open your eyes to His Word and allow your heart to be touched by the Holy Spirit is critical - God wants you to be the best Workman (Craftsman, Student) you can possibly be!

Psalm 119:18

Open thou mine eyes, That I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

Review

Learn to journal, take notes so you can later study and review what has been taught.

Even in church, bring a journal, write down what the Spirit draws your attention to so you can reflect back upon it throughout the week.

(You don’t have to write down every word) Idea and verse reference, then any questions you may be drawn to ask for study.

Reflect

Meditate - God promises us if we meditate upon His word and obey it, we can be prosperous in our endeavors, resulting in good success.

God promises to take care of all our needs, as an obedient Christian.

Joshua 1:8

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Psalm 37:25

I have been young, and now am old; Yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his seed begging bread.

Romans 4:21
