You can trust Jesus.

Hebrews 2:5 ESV
5 For it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking.
Not to angels - Jesus is not an angel, because he subjected the world to angels, therefore since Jesus had the world subjected. He is not an angel.
Angels - were thought to be over specific countries. But Jesus was over all.
We are talking about angels here, but you can fill in the blank as well.
subjected the world to come - premillenialist - Jesus is ruling, but there is more to come. This world is not to come, it is to go.
World - oikos, house. Where people live.
of which we are speaking - Not right now, but we are looking forward.
Hebrews 2:6 ESV
6 It has been testified somewhere, “What is man, that you are mindful of him, or the son of man, that you care for him?
Testified somewhere - these types of quotes make me think it was likely a transcribed sermon. HAHA Quoting wrong person???? He knew the people knew the OT.
quotes Psalm 8:4-6. - all about about Creation and how insignificant humans are compared to creation. - illustration???
What is man, that you are mindful of him - We aren’t special or big compared to the universe. What we have been talking about. In Psalm 8 he was talking about sun and moon then compares us to them.
or the son of man, that you care for him? - literally, man. Just another name. But Did you notice? son of man is title Jesus frequently took.
care for him - watch over. care for. HAHA watching over something dumb???

Jesus came low so we can trust He knows us.

Hebrews 2:7 ESV
7 You made him for a little while lower than the angels; you have crowned him with glory and honor,
You made him for a little while lower than the angels - Philippians 2: 5-11. Jesus was above the angels, but you made him come down lower than the angels.
Other translations say a little lower, either could be right, but I like this way.
made - not literally make, but he made him do it.
little while - 33 years. Even normal men will eventually be over angels.
1 Corinthians 6:3a Do you not know that we are to judge angels?- one day we will all be higher than angels. But Jesus was going to be raised up even higher.
lower - Kenosis, Jesus did not strip himself of deity, but rather he added humanity.
crowned him with glory and honor - crown. King Charles. Symbol of power. But didn’t He just
Jesus came low to earth so that he could be lifted even higher!

Jesus is lifted high so we can trust He is in control.

story of someone important meeting you…maybe preacher story?? boy standing outside.
Hebrews 2:8 ESV
8 putting everything in subjection under his feet.” Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him.
putting everything in subjection under his feet. - subjected - He ordered it around the way he wanted. Not just authority but order. Soldier term to put soldiers in the right place. (staff photo?haha)
He now explains this passage, any Bible teacher should study how he does it.
He left nothing outside his control - incredibly comforting to me that nothing is outside of God’s control. That thing you are worried about? It is still in God’s control.
That awful thing in your life? The thing you are worried about? It is all in God’s control.
Worry discussion - 1. IT will never happen, (less than 10%,) 2. It may happen and it isn’t as bad as you thought. 3. It may happen and God will carry you through.

What you worry about the most shows where you trust God the least.

At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. - But that doesn’t mean it won’t happen. Just because you can’t see it. (illustration here) Just because you can’t see it now doesn’t mean he isnt in charge
Hebrews 2:9 ESV
9 But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.
We see him - We can’t see him in control over everything, but we can see him.
made a little lower than the angels - He was made lower so we could see him. Behold him. Without Jesus, God would have always been far off in our view.
namely Jesus - Jesus means salvation.
crowned with glory and honor BECAUSE of the sufferings of death. - He was crowned Because of the sufferings of death. Not normal. But the only way to have victory over it is to go through it (illustration)
If Jesus would have lived forever, there would always be the doubt of what if someone killed him, but true victory of death is this: Dying then coming back to life.
so that - purpose clause.
grace of God he might taste death for everyone - This is the grace of God, to taste death himself, so he could give life.
cup bearer - would die for us.
CONCLUSION - Salvation??
