Find Scripture , " and there grew up a generation that knew not Joseph, Moses, Joshua etc…."
Judges 2:8-12 (KJV)
8 And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, beingan hundred and ten years old.
9 And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnathheres, in the mount of Ephraim, on the north side of the hill Gaash.
10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.
11 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim:
12 And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.

I remember my dad had a reel to reel player, at a yard sale we went to as children my parents bought an old wire recorder similar to a reel to reel but it used wire of some kind.
Forgetting is something we humans do well. When I think of the past and all the accomplishments of so many people that no longer seem relevant to current society, it is almost overwhelming. To think that at one point someone who was a great leader, a great man of God, who experienced miracles and life changing moments is no longer thought of as important but just another dead person or completely forgotten.
The terrifying thing of a generation not being able to remember or know someone is all of their work is no longer important or significant.
They may not remember - but remember it's not their fault - it is our duty to bring to their remembrance or to inform them.

Others They can no longer give their testimonies - Only you can really give your testimony. I want to encourage you to tell it, in detail every once in a while. It is okay to occasionally tell how it felt, what it did, how it changed you, it glorifies God. Paul shared his several times.
Can I say that if each generation does not have its own personal relationship with God, they will soon be serving other gods. Experiences will vary - you never compare your experiences with others but you must have your own personal relationship with God.
Joshua never had his walking stick turn to a snake, nor turned water to blood, but he did have the walls of Jericho fall flat, he did have the sun stand still at his command, he did have the "Captain of the Lord's host" visit him. The next generation was not as concerned about preserving the relationship with God and the third generation had no knowledge of the relationship with God.
