God's Time

Time is an amazing thing. It is used to measure and give points of reference. We use it to tell history, to mark certain era's, decades, or years. We use it at times to measure distances often in space light-years are used, how far it takes light to travel from one object to another. Or how long does it take to get to a specific destination. We live our lives by it 24 hours a day within those 24 segments of 60 seconds in length an amazing thing. It is interesting to me that our scientists and physicists an make an exact science of time, can get it accurate down to hundreds of a millisecond but yet have trouble defining what it really is. They use it for everything, depend upon it, and yet can hardly tell you what it is.
I think the reason for that is because "Time" is a creation of God. Now I know there are all kinds of theory's out there and I'm not here to argue or dispute those this morning, but Genesis 1:1 does say, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." It seems that before He created a heaven or earth that he created a "time frame" to put that heaven and earth in.
I guess my point is that ultimately Time is a creation of God not mankind. We live our lives by it. It governs our lives. We live in a Seven day week which is not based on science but rather based on the fact that God said and made Seven days.
Now if God created time - that means we do not and probably cannot understand all that is contained in the theory of time.
I do want to point out a couple of truths that I have discovered about time.
God's time is somewhat different from our time
God has his own schedule
Most famous is Luke 11 Where Jesus seemed to be late from our point of view, but in God's timing he was right on time.
God is in Control of Time
We are told in our text it is not for us to know the times and seasons that are in the Father's power. We are told in other scriptures not to worry about tomorrow I think one reason for that is God is already there! What a comfort, what a hope, what a reason not to worry. We are told that God is working all things out for our good in Romans 8:28 it doesn't always happen overnight it "TAKES TIME" and that is in God's hands We are warned in James 4:13-15 (KJV)
13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
God Sets the time
There is a beautiful scripture found in Galatians 4:4-6 (KJV) 4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. 6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. When it comes to the end times, we tend to let gloom and despair take over and say the end is near, when in reality we ought to be saying, GOD'S POWER IS NEAR - HE IS IN CONTROL HE SETS THE TIME
God sets the time when the Antichrist shows up - not man not Satan
Don't plan on Satan's predictions to come true.
Don't worry about false religion's prophecies - I have fallen into this trap before. Satan is a strong man but JESUS is the STRONGER MAN. He can go in and tie up the strong man whenever he wants. You look at Rev. the end time and Satan has a lot of power, power to infiltrate humanity in the form of an antichrist, and false prophet, power to pull fire from heaven, power to even overcome some of the saints, but when God begins to work and cast his judgments down Satan is powerless, he can't stop the sores, the plagues the earthquakes anything. We do not know the times
We may not know the times and seasons, nor do we need to, But we are not left empty handed - Jesus showed the disciples that power wasn't like we say knowledge. I understand that statement that in some sense knowledge is power, But Jesus had a greater power he wanted his disciples to have, and he tells them that when it is time they will be filled with this tremendous power.
