Matthew 15:29-31 (KJV)
29 And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.
30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that werelame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:
31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
The verses preceding this passage I have read this morning tell a wonderful story of how Jesus was going into Tyre and Sidon on his way to Galilee and on his way a dear woman of Canaan, came up to Jesus and pleading no doubt in tears that Jesus would heal her daughter who was grievously vexed with a devil.
Jesus seeming to completely ignore her, just kept on walking. The disciples even asked Jesus if he could send her away, she was getting on their nerves.
Jesus tells her that he was not sent to help her kind, and instead of being offended she fell at his feet and worshipped Jesus.
Jesus then tells her it is not right to take what food is meant for the children and give it to the dogs, in her tremendous faith and determination she answered that don't the dogs still get crumbs. Jesus was touched by her faith and her daughter was healed.
Now to me that is an amazing touching story. I have a feeling if this happened today, it would have ended up in the Christian's best seller's list, that she would be on every Christian talk show, speaking at major Christian events and conferences and there is nothing wrong with that, but sometimes those of us who do not have such an "exciting memorable" testimony tend to not share as much as we should.
I think of this scripture I read this morning and we are not given names, but are told that great multitudes came to Jesus and he healed them
The Lame - my what a testimony not being able to walk and then being able to leave the crutches or wheel-chair and walk home
The Blind - Not being able to see , and suddenly at his word or touch being able to see 20/20
The Dumb - Not being able to speak - Chad my cousin was born deaf and because of that couldn't talk they trained and worked and was able to make great advances but I remember our community raising money to get Chad a procedure that would help, and when he could hear a little bit, his speech improved tremendously. But not being able to speak or express yourself.
Matthew goes through these things and then he says and many others.
Their miracle, and their name never made it into the pages of our Holy Bible and yet I want you to know their testimony was just as important and powerful.
I grew up hearing the stories of people like Bro. Tom Wade, and others who lived rough lives, were sometimes mean to their spouses, who went into deep sin and when God brought them out and delivered them my we had revivals and shared the story over and over again. There is nothing wrong with that, but what do we do when we have a boring testimony?
Here is what you do, you tell it, especially at church. People need to hear what God did for you.
No Testimony is Boring - Story of the Prodigal Son Every work of God is a WORK OF GOD!!! Don’t ever forget that. It doesn't matter if you were raised in the church and were kept from partaking a lot of sin. (That is to me one of the greatest testimonies) Jesus went to the cross for everyone - (EVEN YOU ARE A WHOSOEVER)
Jesus said there was rejoicing in heaven even over 1 soul that repented.
