Four Thing's Satan Found At Job's House
A Hedge of Protection Job 1:6-12
BECAUSE OF JOB’S STANDING vs8 “And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?” BECAUSE OF JOB’S SINCERITY vs9-11 “Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? 10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. 11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.” BECAUSE OF HIS SECURITY vs12 “And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.” A Heart That Wouldn't be Provoked Job 1:13-22 Satan launches an all-out assault on Job’s House, his Home and everything that he held dear. All in attempt to Provoke His heart away from serving God. The devil thought Job’s heart for God was defined by the things that he possessed. First Satan attempted to Provoke his Heart by….
BY DEFEATING HIS SERVANTS vs15 “And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.” BY DEVOURING HIS SUBSTANCE vs16-17 “While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said,The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. 17 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.” BY DESTROYING HIS SEED vs18-19 “While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house: 19 And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smIote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.”
Note: many that skim through the Scriptures and as well the devil himself didn’t see in Job’s house that day, was that he as well Possessed a Heart That Could Not Be Provoked. Provoked to what you say? Provoked to blaspheme, to disregard what he was most thankful for. And he shows and tells us in vs20-22 “Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, 21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. 22 In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.”
A Hope He Couldn't Persuade
Now we read and hear for 41 chapters, to include the ones we’ve already read of, Attack and Assault and Accusation from Satan to Persuade him away from a Hope he held onto, but to no avail. Why, because when Satan came searching Job’s House he found something that God already knew of many years before and thus the reason He asked Satan if he had considered His servant Job? When Satan came searching Job’s house he Found A Hope He Could Not Persuade with…
A. WITH THE ATTACKS ON HIS FAMILY Chp 1:18-19
B. WITH THE ASSAULT ON HIS FLESH Chp 2:4-10
C. WITH THE ACCUSATIONS OF HIS FRIENDS Chp 3:1-37:24
Job 2:11-13 (KJV)
11 Now when Job's three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place; Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite: for they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him.
12 And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.
13 So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.
When his friends were staring he wished they would speak, when they spoke he wished they would hush.
Note: For many Chapters Satan uses Job’s “Friends” to take away his Hope, but to no avail. Job makes many a soundbite in the midst of their “advice” and makes this profound statement to reiterate where his Hope was.
Job 19:23-27 (KJV)
23 Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!
24 That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!
25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
A Harvest He Couldn't Prevent Chp 42:1-17
