10 Reasons Why I Can't Quit
Notes
Transcript
Verse 10 uses the word offended – may I define that as to stumble, to fall, to quit.
Our text uses the word “endure”. Endure means to hold out, to stand fast, to persevere, to keep going don’t stop, never give up, don’t quit. Do you get the picture? No matter what never never never never never give up.
Winston Churchill once gave and address at a school that went like this. “Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never give in.” Then he sat down.
Jesus tells us in this portion of scripture that many would be offended. The tendency of the offended is to quit. We are told however that those who keep on going who endure to the end will be saved. As my Aunt Margie used to say, “Stay in the boat.”

Quit you ask, curse God and die?
How can I surrender when help is so nigh
His grace is always sufficient, His word always enough
Doubt his help? I refuse! Quit? I cannot!
I know my Redeemer lives, so I will struggle on
Knowing that trials and tribulations can’t last too long
God’s word will last forever, His love will never cease
So I will keep on plodding, The race I’ll not concede
I know the way is narrow, I know the gate is strait
I know that few are chosen, only few find the way
But I’ve been promised a companion close and true to the end
I have felt His presence many times, Quit? Not with my friend
Quitting only admits defeat, only ends in death
while persevering endurance, overcomes and triumphs
I’ll keep my eye’s ahead, my progress never slowing
for I cannot quit, I must not quit, I mean to keep on going
