1 John 2:3  We can be sure that we know God if we obey his commands. 4 Anyone who says, “I know God,” but does not obey God’s commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. 5 But if someone obeys God’s teaching, then in that person God’s love has truly reached its goal. This is how we can be sure we are living in God: 6 Whoever says that he lives in God must live as Jesus lived. KJV 6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning
Transliteration: peripateō Phonetic Pronunciation: per-ee-pat-eh’-oRoot: from <G4012> and <G3961> The word peripateo is a compound word that means to walk. The term peri means the ability to be mobile, to tread around and to move around. Then the second part of the word is pateo it figuratively means to live, to deport itself, and to follow.
Put together Peripateo means that through your free will you now have the ability to be mobile in this world but voluntarily deport your old lifestyle and embrace the new Christian lifestyle and live to the glory of God following His will His way and doing His work. And so what shall we learn from this word Peripateo. Several things. because Good Christian Teaching will enable the learner to comprehend and apply the Christian Objectives that meet a religious goal. The religious goal in all of our teachings ought to include the Summon Bonum the Highest Good. God is the Highest Good. And so what does Paul inspire us to learner and be an example of Because in I John 2:7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning. In Other words before anybody is saying that I’m teaching and preaching another Gospel I’m teaching and Preaching godly principles that were beginning of the written word of God. John is saying this isn’t any thing new and we do well to learn what the word of God says concerning our lives. Listen it’s better to tell you the truth and help you develop spiritually than to tell you just what you want to hear and then you’re lost and I have to stand in the judgement and give an account to God for why I didn’t thoroughly teach you His word. Too many times Pastors want to tell the congregation what they want to hear rather than said what thus says the Lord concerning their lives. I John 2:8 the scripture says 8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. It is impossible to be in the future living in the past. My dark past your dark past has to be left behind… I promise you that I could not go backward in life and try to change something to fit my standards of living now. Because it was that dark past that drove me to the light of Jesus Christ causing me, driving me, compelling me, ordering me, and making me live a better lifestyle, have a better code of ethics, and exhibit a better conduct for living and demonstrate a better creed in my personal constitution within me. Let’s read it again . I John 2:8 the scripture says 8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. WE MUST LIVE IN THIS NEW COMMANDMENT>But why pastor why why What’s the big deal?
I John 2:9  He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. 10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. Verses 9&10 gives the formula for the Christian behavior needed in Walk the Talk. Listen anybody can talk a good game, oh but living it “is harder.” Harder Than it looks. But the key to displaying Christian behavior in intense situations is to do like Jesus. He looked beyond all of my faults and saw my needs. Think about it If God can forgive your sinful self… Then you can forgive that joker that gets on your last nerve. I’m not saying that they are right but I am saying that in order for you to have a fruitful future you’ve got to forget the past.. You’ve got to wipe the slate clean. Let’s read the text again 9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. 10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. Verse ten tells us that if I just love my brothers and sisters then my lifestyle lines up with God and I am blessed meaning I won’t be stumbling and falling down. People wonder why stuff keep going wrong but they won’t change towards their brothers and sisters. Listen. I’ve got a quote from an ancient proverb that says No matter how far you’ve traveled on the wrong road, turn back.” It’s not too late to turn from that sickness that will turn into wickedness that will turn into super sinister sins… What do you mean? Well psychologist suggest that when people have pent up anger or unresloved issues sooner or later they’re going to explode or bust a pipe or bust you side the head “something.” Things can’t remain the same. We are human and because we are human God knows us better than we know ourselves. So God packaged up a manual for us to show us how to live. Today we are studying the manual the bible the book of I John 2:6 If you’re going to be Christ like then we’ve got to walk the talk that Christ lived and require us to live by. Well II’m out of time I’m about too go into the morning session of the NBC in downtown Houston, remember I love you with God Love and there’s nothing you can do about it Y’all come back now you hear.
