Turning the Corner 31:1-55 - Have you ever been in the right place at the wrong time? I remember when I was a quite a bit younger, before I was married I was at a camp meeting. They may have changed since then, but back then they were not too free with commending people on their participation in the service in fear it might give them the big head. I had sang at a service and had felt the presence of the Lord. Afterward no one came and said anything to me. Now that was ok, I knew what they were like. And I don't go around looking for compliments.
Except later I went into the restroom and two gentlemen came in after me who did not know I was in there and were talking about that song. I got to hear way more than they would have wanted me to have heard I'm sure. I just stayed in the stall until they left, but I left encouraged to know I had ministered to more than myself.
We begin this chapter with Jacob being in the stall and his brother in laws coming in and instead of hearing compliments he hears complaints against him. You will find this in verse 1 - "Jacob hath taken away all that was our father's; and of that which was our father's hath he gotten all this glory."
Later that day when Jacob was going about his duties he ran into Laban his father-in-law and his countenance was not toward him as before. Or to put it a little differently Laban's attitude had changed toward him.
Verse 3 we find God instead of complaining compliments Jacob - God tells Jacob to leave and he would be with him.
Verse 4 - Jacob calls Leah and Rachel to him in the field with the flock he is herding that day.
Jacob begins to complain perhaps rightfully so about his father-in-law. Look at these complaints.
5 - laban's attitude had changed. 7 - Laban had deceived Jacob - changing his wages ten times.
Jacob also tells them what God said,
God didn't let Laban hurt Jacob in verse 7. God had taken away the sheep of Laban and given it to Jacob
We then hear Jacob tell about a vision he saw. I don't know if this is how God spoke to him in verse 3 or not but it is quite the vision.
