I will not fall into an emotionally unhealthy place!
“Serenity In Suffering” - Article
Very few people can accurately express what they feel. The reason people struggle to express their feelings is because they don’t understand them.
Understanding your root emotions opens the door to fully understanding why you feel certain emotions.
This proves especially helpful when your emotions seem out of control.
If you feel like your emotions are out of control, it’s a sign that you struggle to identify the source of your emotions.
Psychpoint
Emotions can be challenging to understand. Sometimes they have concrete reasons for being felt, and sometimes we are not sure why we are feeling a certain way. When we feel emotions we do not understand, we can struggle to understand how to cope.
People who struggle to understand how to identify and cope with their emotions often struggle with anxiety, self-esteem and reactivity to stress.
Because emotions can affect us in different ways, being able to express how we feel in a healthy way requires the ability to sit with the discomfort that emotions can cause and find the root of the feeling.
Matthew 26:38 ESV
Then he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me.”
Jesus understood why he was sad....
He understood the root of his sorrow was the fact that He was going to die....
Not only death but the sin of mankind was going to be on Him…
Not only that separated from the Father!!!!!
Jesus took His root of sorrow to the father....
“My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”
Matthew 26:42 ESV
Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, “My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done.”
I have to identify the root!
I am reacting or responding this way for a reason....
Now..... You probably won’t have a Jesus moment right away!
But Identification is the start!
God’s word helps us Identify
Therapy helps us identify (Christian Therapist)
Wise counsel helps us identity
Proverbs 12:15 ESV
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.
Therapy and wise counsel should both lead us to a place of taking our root issue to the Father
Alignment is powerful!!!
Your next level is in your alignment!
Philippians 2:4–5 ESV
Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,
Philippians 2:6–7 ESV
who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
Philippians 2:8–9 ESV
And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,
Jesus humbled himself
Aligned His will to the father
He was in obedience to the fathers will
“Therefore”
God has highly exalted Him....
Exalted: to honor exceptionally = — to bestow honor or status far beyond what is usual in magnitude or degree; conceived of in terms of lifting something to an uncommonly high position.
Jesus is the first born of creation (Rank)
Jesus is the first born of the dead (Resurrected)
Jesus is the head of the Church
Humility produces a “Therefore”
James 4:10 ESV
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.
to exalt ⇔ raise up v. — to exalt someone, conceived of as lifting the person up.
A place of honor
