We Are So Blessed

The poet once wrote;
I asked God for strength, that I might achieve.
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.
I asked for health, that I might do great things.
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.
I asked for riches, that I might be happy.
I was given poverty, that I might become wise.
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men.
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need for God.
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life.
I was given Life, that I might enjoy all things.
I got nothing that I asked for, but everything I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself, I am, among all men, most richly blessed.
This morning I don't know about you, but I am so blessed by God. Blessed in so many ways.
Psalm 68:19 (KJV)
19 Blessed be the Lord, whodaily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. Now Bible Commentators and scholars tell me the phrase "who daily loadeth us with benefits" is not in the original text and I notice more modern translations will put here that he lifts us up or bears our burdens.
Either way we are blessed daily indeed.
I like what Charles Spurgeon writes on this verse:
"God's benefits are not few nor light, they are loads; neither are they intermittent, but they come "daily; "nor are they confined to one or two favourites, for all Israel can say, he loadeth us with benefits."
The Treasury of David.

Today, upon a bus, I saw a lovely girl with golden hair.
I envied her, she seemed so happy, and wished I was as fair.
When suddenly she rose to leave, I saw her hobbled down the aisle.
She had one leg and wore a crutch.
And as she passed... She smiled.
Oh God, forgive me when I whine.
I have 2 legs, the world is mine
And later on the way to work, I stopped to buy some sweets The lad who sold it had such charm.
I talked with him awhile
If I were late, it'd do no harm.
And as I left, he said to me, "I thank you sir, you've been so kind.
It's nice to talk with folks like you. You see," he said, "I'm blind."
Oh God, forgive me when I whine.
I have 2 eyes, the world is mine.
Later while walking down the street,
I saw a child with eyes of blue.
He stood and watched the others play.
Seemed He didn't know what to do.
I stopped a moment and then I said,
"Why don't you join the others, dear?"
He looked ahead without a word. And then I knew,
he couldn't hear.
Oh God, forgive me when I whine.
I have 2 ears, the world is mine.
With legs to take me where I'd go.
With eyes to see the sunset's glow.
With ears to hear what I'd know.
Oh Lord.. Dear God, forgive me when I whine.
I've been blessed indeed, the world is mine........
