Psalm 27:13–14 NLT
13 Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. 14 Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.
State:
Hebrew sense for “I am confident”
“To accept as true”
Hebrew for “ the Lord’s goodness”
“an understanding - intelligence”
“the goodness and kindness”
Jesus has to wait
Hebrews 10:12–14 ESV
12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. 14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.
State: Even Jesus is waiting for the fulfillment of what he accomplished at Calvary.
verse 14: “For by one single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified
He has perfected” - meaning: Made perfect and complete
Being sanctified"- “ To be or become as dedicated to God: either in distinction (you are different from others), in devotion (love or enthusiasm for a person or cause), or in moral purity.
What will Christ’s final fulfillment look like?
1 Corinthians 15:23–28 NLT
23 But there is an order to this resurrection: Christ was raised as the first of the harvest; then all who belong to Christ will be raised when he comes back. 24 After that the end will come, when he will turn the Kingdom over to God the Father, having destroyed every ruler and authority and power. 25 For Christ must reign until he humbles all his enemies beneath his feet. 26 And the last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For the Scriptures say, “God has put all things under his authority.” (Of course, when it says “all things are under his authority,” that does not include God himself, who gave Christ his authority.) 28 Then, when all things are under his authority, the Son will put himself under God’s authority, so that God, who gave his Son authority over all things, will be utterly supreme over everything everywhere.
State: The book of Romans speaks about the waiting for this:
Romans 8:22–26 NLT
22 For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us. 24 We were given this hope when we were saved. (If we already have something, we don’t need to hope for it. 25 But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.) 26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
