I. Solomon searches for wisdom only to find folly (Ecc 7:23-25).
a. He searches for wisdom (Hide and Seek)
1. He encounters the Lord and request what’s good.
2. He asks the Lord for a understanding mind (1 Kings 3:9).
b. Solomon searches finds the bitterness of folly (Ecc 7:26).
1. His heart turns towards the false god's of his wives (1 Kings 11:1-8).
2. He honors the gods through erecting alters and providing sacrifices.
3. The Lord promises to split his kingdom because of sin (1 Kings 11:9-13).
II. People are looking for wisdom in the wrong places.
a. People go after the first thing that captures our attention.
1. We are lured by the woman of folly (Proverbs 9:13-18).
2. The follies of this world lead us to spiritual death and decay.
3. Left to our own schemes we will remain as a prisoner of folly.
III. God alone can make the foolish upright through wisdom (Ecc 7:27-29).
a. We find God makes man upright through Jesus Christ.
1. Solomon realized only God can make man upright.
2. God sent his only begotten Son to redeem us from the woman of folly.
3. His grace removes your rebellion.
4. His grace fills you with the Holy Spirit - the giver of wisdom.
b. God provides you wisdom (Spirit) to overcome life's adversity.
1. God’s wisdom equips to resist the woman of folly.
2. God’s wisdom enables you to make life fulfilling decisions.
IV. God gave you wisdom so the world can find it.
a. How can the world find the wisdom of God?
1. You are salt/light of the world [visible/enhancing] (Matt 5:13-16).
2. Your life is an expression of God's wisdom of Jesus.
V. God made Jesus our wisdom for life.
a. Your life with Jesus bring fulfillment (Proverbs 9:1-6).
1. Jesus is our complete wisdom.
2. Jesus is the wisdom that satisfies.
3. Jesus is the wisdom to navigate this world.
