Intro

There have been several moments in my life where I would say that I was lost spiritually. They would come at different times for different reasons. Especially when I was unemployed or walking through financial hardship. In those moments this seemed to hit harder. I had lost my passion for life. My world had collapsed and I could no longer see the light in life. My world shrunk as I could only see my problems
If I want to hang a picture in a house, I have my hammer, picture, my nails, I have the basics but what am I missing? A HOUSE! There is nowhere to hang the picture.
Genesis 1:6–8 NIV
And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.

A Vault? A space? A Ceiling

God illuminates the surface of the earth. A water ball floating in nothing. He is continuing the creation process. Remember on day one He created light and matter. Now He looks out and He is preparing everything for Earths Habitation.
Earth has no Atmosphere and in order for life to work that has to change. so God looks out and speaks
Let there be a vault, between the waters.”
In that moment the waters divide, and in every direction water is shoved out.
You see the word Vault (Ra’qiya) in Hebrew means Firmament.
Firmament Means sky or space.
So God has Earth and He says I need somewhere to put this. so from water God creates the Firmament.
And the framework from which God would place everything is born. Keep in mind. Space is there. but other than Earth there is nothing. In this process the Atmosphere is created.

What About the Atmosphere?

Psalm 148:1–4 NIV
Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights above. Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his heavenly hosts. Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars. Praise him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies.
This Firmament is shoved out insanely far.
Could the Atmosphere be the Firmament?
The Atmosphere is 78% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen. There is water in it. but It is not the main component.
Some believe that the atmosphere is the firmament but theologically that doesn’t add up.
Genesis 1:14–15 NIV
And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so.
So we can see that they were place “in” the vault not “on” the vault.
Therefore the context would indicate that the Vault God is speaking about is far grander and larger than we can imagine.

Live the Adventure with Jesus

When my life was collapsing for various reasons and I no longer had hope. The enemy was capitalizing on that by discouraging me from running after Jesus.
See when God spoke these words to Moses the theology/Science that came from it was that:
The Earth was flat and that the Firmament was a hard Dome That the Stars and planets were painted on the sky, or sat on this dome like lights on a cieling.
Hebrew Understanding Slide
You see people trying to reconcile Scripture with their lived experience is nothing new. But as with all Science we must be open to it changing and evolving as new data.
What does not change, is the word of God.
So what have we learned in 4000 years?
The Earth isn’t flat
The Atmosphere is not a dome, it is a sphere.
Just because we don’t understand it, doesn’t mean God is lying!
So what can we learn? We can learn that God is smarter, wiser, and far more creative than we are. His ways are higher than ours.
We as humanity look up at Gods creation and we instinctively say, what a nice painting. what a grand idea? Not realizing that the idea of Stars and planets and galaxies are not just there as decoration. they are there to be explored.
You see I looked at all this and I thought, how narrow minded were they, until I realized that OI am narrow minded on different topics about God. My friends we serve a great God. There is none like Him. He is the only one. He reigns from one end to another.
The Observable Universe is 93 Billion LY across
You see what began to come across as realized all of this data was that our God is magnificent. Majestic and worthy of all praise. Glory be to God.

Closing

So often is our little lives, all we see is brokenness and despair and we think. oh God, how can you redeem this? Maybe there is abuse, or a divorce, or a sickness, or a you name it. and you can no longer see the Joy, the potential, the wonder of Life, The what Could be.
1 Corinthians 2:9 NIV
However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him—
John 14:12–13 NIV
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
My friends the world will work to beat you down, but Christ came to lift you and I up so that we can glorify God.
The En
The world God lays out for you and I is grander and more adventurous that we can imagine. All we need to do to join in this world, is give our lives to Jesus fully and He will expand our worldview.
John 10:10 NIV
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
Are you living your life with Jesus to the fullest? Or have you settled for a common Christianity? A common walk? A typical prayer life. A standard bible life.
