Season 3 of Stranger Things deals with what The Party calls, “The Flayed”
The Flayed
The thing about the flayed is that they are under the control of the mind flayer, yet they are living their lives in secret.
Continuing to live their daily lives and continuing to act like themselves.
But on the inside, they are being controlled and are not who they appear to be.
Billy and Heather Flayed Video
As we saw, the appearance the Billy and Heather were putting on was not what they had been plotting.
Heather’s parents would not have known the difference, yet they hid it so well that when it came time for their plan to take place, it came as a shock to both of them.
(Lay-o-dee-see-ah)
Laodicea is a city in Asia Minor under the rule of Rome.
Southwest of the Colossians church.
This was a booming city.
They had great wealth and was very prosperous.
In 60 AD, they suffered an earthquake.
Instead of turning to Rome for assistance like they had in the past, they paid for the repairs themselves.
Laodicea piped water from the mountains to the south.
After 6 miles in an aqueduct, the water arrived lukewarm with a gritty concentration of calcium carbonate.
Colossae was tucked into the foot of Mount Honaz where cold mountain run-off water poured down to supply the city with fresh water.
Hierapolis was positioned on magnificent hot springs that emitted mineral rich waters attracting visitors from all over Asia to its therapeutic baths.
The waters of Laodicea were useless.
They were good for nothing.
WHAT ARE YOU GOOD FOR IN YOUR FAITH?
“Lukewarm living and claiming Christ’s name simultaneously is utterly disgusting to God.”
-Francis Chan
If you are living a lukewarm life, you are living a life apart from Christ.
You can’t expect to gain the riches of heaven and the blessings of Christ without being sold out.
Entire Sanctification.
Being a follower of Christ means being all in.
WE ARE NOT FOLLOWERS FOR THE SAKE OF HEAVEN.
WE ARE FOLLOWERS BECAUSE OF THE LIFE CHANGING POWER OF CHRIST
