4009. מִבְטָח miḇṭāḥ: A masculine noun referring to trust, confidence. It refers to persons or things in which one trusts or an attitude of confidence itself. People who do not trust in God have a trust like a spider’s web, fragile in the extreme (Job 8:14); the wicked are torn from whatever trust or security they may have (Job 18:14). Confidence in God results in a person being blessed by Him (Ps. 40:4[5]; Jer. 17:7). Israel often trusted in Egypt or other foreign powers to help her (Jer. 2:37). The fear of God is a source of great trust for His people (Prov. 14:26). God is the ultimate trust of the entire earth, the confidence of all nations (Ps. 65:5[6]), as well as the secure dwelling of His people (Isa. 32:18).
