NCV Zechariah 6:13 Tell him this is what the LORD All-Powerful says: ‘A man whose name is the Branch will branch out from where he is, and he will build the Temple of the LORD. 13 One man will build the Temple of the LORD, and the other will receive honor. One man will sit on his throne and rule, and the other will be a priest on his throne. And these two men will work together in peace.’

To begin with brothers and sisters I’m compelled , commissioned, and commanded by GOD to talk about building God’s House and Building God’s people that’s in His house.Pilgrim Baptist CHURCH This is the LORD’S doing and not mine. Not my ego, not my self assurance, not my education ,not my cognitive abilities, not my talents but God’s strength. This message come from God’s own Mouth. In the NT when Satan was tempting Jesus in the wilderness after he had been hungry for 40 day .Jesus told satan man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceed out of the MOUTH OF GOD!

I said Lord what shall I tell your people. He said tell them that the preacher prophet priest Zechariah had some legitimate complaints.Basically Zechariah is saying Lord why you letting them heathen nations beat up on us. Lord I know you can’t stand them but you letting them beat us up. And God told Zechariah that THE BRANCH is coming. He’s going to straighten things out.

The Branch in the OT is translated as Jesus the Christ in the NT. That’s why Jesus said in John 15 I am the True Vine and look 2x in essence JESUS said if you’re not connected to Me, Jesus says, you’re not connected to the right God. So Jesus is the Branch in Zechariah chapter 6 . And so what are the issues in the text, what are the problems in the text, what are the requirements in the text, and what are the results of the people’s obedience in the text.

1. Zech 6:12 the LORD All-Powerful says: ‘A man whose name is the Branch will branch out from where he is, and he will build the Temple of the LORD.

Listen brothers and sisters The church is consecrated to the service of God, so the church ought to be in good working order. And and and the church is hallowed as GOD’S residence, So treat God’s church to the best stuff possible. In other words on Communion Sunday and every other Sunday, we ought to Pull out the fine china in God’s House because when God shows up, When the Holy Ghost shows up and when Jesus the Christ shows up, I want Him to see us giving Him our best.

And brothers and sisters if we give God our best He’ll build this house back better than it ever was before. But it has to be a genuine commitment. And when everything comes together God will get the glory in this House. I know I’m right because

verse 13 One man will build the Temple of the LORD, and the other will receive honor. One man will sit on his throne and rule, and the other will be a priest on his throne. And these two men will work together in peace.’ This clearly means that if we work together everything we thought to accomplish will get done and Listen we can’t ever do too much for God…What ever we do for God we can do more… Why because he woke us up this morning touch the button of nature and our eyes opened up and beheld a brand new day. THE BRANCH WOKE US UP THIS MORNING. The Lilly if the Valley woke US up the Bright Morning Star woke US up the Rose of Sharon woke US up this morning. Jesus the Christ he Messiah he woke US up this morning and He is the Master Builder.Jesus is God chosen diety,

HE’S The Branch in the text. Jesus prepares the material,Employs the workmen, and superintends the workmanship. In other words God has His eyes on the work of the Church, the work of the ministry, and the work of his disciples within ministry.

I’m not naive 3x. I know that we have obstacles. I know that we have diversified personalities with differences of opinion even doctrine and I know that nobody in here is perfect, but I do know that we must work together.

Tell your neighbor: We have to Work Together.

The second thing I’ve got to talk about is in Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. The Branch is going to build the church, and As we cruse and peruse through the annuals of biblical history we find that The Christian Church has many dynamic and prevalent elements. And as we go from The Branch in the OT to Jesus the Christ in the NT Let’s examine what Jesus says. He says “Peter upon this Rock I will build My church. The reason Jesus is saying this is because

Jesus is looking around at all of the sinful idolatry in Cesarea Philippi and he begins to give a narrative that is reflective of the ancient Rock city of Dedan. The ancient folk in the city of Dedan were heathens who thought that they were invincible because they lived in that Rock City. And we too have to be careful not to think that we have arrived because we have some false sense of security.

Tell your neighbor be careful of that.

The prominent fact and focus was that Jesus uses Peter as an Illustration to define His church. Jesus uses the ancient Rock city of Dedan.

Dedan was described as rotten and defiled and only a handful of men could come through the pass at one time.

In other words you had to go through a narrow narrow narrow passage way to get into the Rock City of Dedan. It was strategic because only a few people at a time could get through to attack the Rock city of Dedan.

And Jesus uses this example to explain to us that His Church has a narrow narrow narrow way to get into it. And that narrow narrow narrow way fortifies His church against the Mightiest wicked armies, fortifies His church against the most Malicious evil people and fortifies His church against Mischievous Malignant folk whose aims and intentions are design to infiltrate God’s church and Metastasize a fatal terminal blow hoping to cause GOD’S church to die! Wicked folk mean for GOD’S church to die!!! And believe it or not but it’s got people who wish your church would fall, wishing your pastor would fail, and wish your congregation would fizzle out before the finish. Oh But God!!! Tell your neighbor: Oh But God.

God ain’t having it. Tell your neighbor: Because Pilgrim BC gon be here say Amen. Jesus said Upon this Rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against His Church. Listen me, Saints of God, I just pastor God’s Church I don’t own it, and I’m just preaching here today at God’s Church. You’re just here serving at God’s Church, and you’re just here giving God glory today for His Mighty works.

Last thing Pilgrim ain’t going down!!! And the last two things I want to talk about is The Priest and the People.

Tell your neighbor : The Priest and the People.

In the book of Malachi the famous scripture for giving is always read in Malachi 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee?In tithes and offerings. 9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, Even this whole nation. 10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be meat in mine house, And prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, If I will not open you the windows of heaven, And pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11  And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes,And he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; Neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. 12  And all nations shall call you blessed:For ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.

I have used this scripture to inspire and motivate the church to step up in her giving, and it’s a real thing. And we need to give more, But!!! God was really displeased at how the Priest were 1. approaching sacred sacrifices,2. Pious purposes were defiled and 3. holy religious ceremonies disregarded .

Let me explain 1.the Priest were offering up defected animals to God. We’ve got to give God our best. Y’all remember when the children of Israel were in Egypt and God told Moses you tell all the priest and elders to prepare an unblemished lamb for every Hebrew household in the Land of Goshen. And if they were obedient,,, the death angel would see the blood over the door posts and God would spare their lives.

And NOBODY in their natural bourne right mind offered any defected animals to God because they saw How God was dealing with the Egyptians… But the Priest in Malachi’s day either didn’t care or thought that God was not All Powerful and that maybe God wouldn’t notice.

And Malachi told them about themselves and they said to Malachi What what we did we ain’t did nothing wrong...But I’m here to tell us that God sees everything.

and then# 2. God was displeased at how His Pious Purposes were defiled. The Priest were encouraging the people to bring ranky danky sacrifices to God and then the people would break the Priest off the best cuts of meat the best animal sacrifices. I’m too scared to clown with God like he’s not Omniscient Because God’s knows everything about anything that is knowable. The Priests of Malachi’s day were crooked and the people were cheeky.

And then finally 3. the defiling of the holy religious ceremonies. Listen Church it’s communion. and we should never come to communion like it’s any old Sunday. But the people of Malachi’s day knew that the Priest were wrong and they knew that they were wrong too but there was no reverence or fear or respect for God… And Senator Rankin taught me something when all of the trouble at the US Capitol happened He said “if somebody can convince you to believe absurdities then they can convince you to commitment atrocities. And listen Pilgrim That’s why WE HAVE TO DO THING RIGHT AND AS Pastor I understands the gravity and brevity and seriousness of Committing to God whole heartedly.

Well here’s the last point of the message, we can’t be like the people of Haggai’s day. the people of Haggai day were messing up because they were living lavishly fixing their homes and forgetting about the temple of God.

Let me prove it because Haggai 1:2  “This is what the LORD All-Powerful says: ‘The people say the right time has not come to rebuild the Temple of the LORD.’ ”3 Then Haggai the prophet spoke the word of the LORD: 4 “Is it right for you to be living in fancy houses while the Temple is still in ruins?”5 This is what the LORD All-Powerful says: “Think about what you have done. 6 You have planted much, but you harvest little. You eat, but you do not become full. You drink, but you are still thirsty. You put on clothes, but you are not warm enough. You earn money, but then you lose it all as if you had put it into a purse full of holes.”7 This is what the LORD All-Powerful says: “Think about what you have done. 8 Go up to the mountains, bring back wood, and build the Temple. Then I will be pleased with it and be honored,” says the LORD.9 “You look for much, but you find little. When you bring it home, I destroy it. Why?” asks the LORD All-Powerful. “Because you all work hard for your own houses while my house is still in ruins!

1 0 Because of what you h “This is what the LORD All-Powerful says: ‘The people say the right time has not come to rebuild the Temple of the LORD.’ ”3 Then Haggai the prophet spoke the word of the LORD: 4 “Is it right for you to be living in fancy houses while the Temple is still in ruins?”5 This is what the LORD All-Powerful says: “Think about what you have done. Then I will be pleased with it and be honored,” says the LORD

I’ve got to close here today but The worst thing in the world for us to do is to forget where God has brought us from. The Lord has brought us from a mighty mighty long ways.

And I vowed a vow to God that tah I will do what ever I can to help our church.

And I know I’m not by myself because it’s got people here who love Pilgrim BC.

God has been good to PILGRIM

And I just want to say thank you Lord. Is there anybody here that’s thankful that God looked pass your faults and saw about your every need.

Because He put food on my table clothes on my back and a roof over my head yes and what ever we can do to bless God’s house we ought to do our best. Great God.

Because Jesus is the Branch in our theme text IN Zechariah 6:12 and He’s coming to build His Church oh yes He is

and Jesus told Peter upon this Rock I’ll build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against her.. Oh Lord

And I’m so glad that Jesus didn’t give up on us Because One Friday Yes they took my Lord and your God and lead Him on Up to Calvary Oh Lord and They stretched Him wide and hang Him up High and Oh He died Yes They put Him Down in Joseph’s new tomb and He stay there all night Friday night, stay there all day Saturday stay there all night Saturday night But Early 3x Sunday Morning He got up with all Power in His Hands Oh yes He did And I’m so glad I can come and praise the Lord while the blood still runs warm in my veins.
