Intro
Great to have you out
Looking forward to an awesome group season.
This isn’t everyone.
Remember the groups are supposed to be small and intimate.
I want to spend a few moments talking to you about groups, their purpose, and then a quick demo of what they should look like.
Exegete:
The author of Hebrews is writing here and tells the Hebrew receipients to consider…to think of one another.
I wonder how busy they were back then…I wonder how distracted they were back then.
I wonder how much they had going on for him to have to remind them to consider…to think about others.
I think we use busyness and the fast paced world we live in as an excuse for us being unable to consider other.
Just a with giving, it is not a matter of can or want…it is a matter of will or won’t
Why are we to consider each other…to provoke unto love and good works.
We are to look to each other and think of one another to build up in love and to help do good works, works in Jesus’ name that bring Him glory.
To love…to love God…love other…to love themelves
That’s not only why we come together on Sunday morning…that’s why we come together on Wednesday nights, that should be why we come together with other believers for dinner, coffee, lunch, shopping, nails, etc.
Strong statement: Christians don’t wait for the church to put a program on to be a blessing
Illustrate:
have you ever had someone ask you “What’s the least I can do and get by?”
A lot of that is happening right now with what is being called Quite quitting.
People doing the bare minimum and wanting the full paycheck + some.
Apply:
Paul is admonishing the Hebrews to not do the bare minimum here.
Don’t be a quite quitting Christian.
Be one that comes to a gathering of believers whether it’s 1 or 100 and be ready to think of others so you can love on them, so you can help them lift up the name of Jesus.
By you choosing to be apart of a group you have taken that first step of gathering more....the next step is to be intentional while you are gathered.
Which leads me into what a group should look like.
Can I get 4 volunteers to come up here please?
