Deuteronomy 26:1 And it shall be, when thou art come in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and possessest it, and dwellest therein; 2 That thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which thou shalt bring of thy land that the LORD thy God giveth thee, and shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name there. 3 And thou shalt go unto the priest that shall be in those days, and say unto him, I profess this day unto the LORD thy God, that I am come unto the country which the LORD sware unto our fathers for to give us. 4 And the priest shall take the basket out of thine hand, and set it down before the altar of the LORD thy God. 5 And thou shalt speak and say before the LORD thy God, A Syrian ready to perish was my father, and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there with a few, and became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous: 6 And the Egyptians evil entreated us, and afflicted us, and laid upon us hard bondage: 7 And when we cried unto the LORD God of our fathers, the LORD heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labour, and our oppression: 8 And the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders: 9 And he hath brought us into this place, and hath given us this land, even a land that floweth with milk and honey. 10 And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land, which thou, O LORD, hast given me. And thou shalt set it before the LORD thy God, and worship before the LORD thy God: 11 And thou shalt rejoice in every good thing which the LORD thy God hath given unto thee, and unto thine house, thou, and the Levite, and the stranger that is among you.

To begin with Saints of God I want to take the opportunity to thank God for teaching me how to teach His people. And any Good Master Teacher know that he/she must put their objectives on the board that tell us how to achieve the intended goal. So what is Good Religious Teaching?

Good Religious Teaching has been demonstrated that the learner will be able to comprehend, understand, and apply biblical objectives that help the learner accomplish the intended religious goal.

And so it give me a profound, perspicacious, and prestigious privilege to keep on presenting a great theological term. This new term is called Catechetical Instruction.

1.Catechetical Instruction is the ability to instruct systematically by giving religious instruction in such a manner that provides appropriate pious questions with authentic and accurate biblical answers.

2. Catechetical Instruction is demonstrating the ability to give exegetical expositions and explanations that expound on correct biblical interpretation of scripture.

3. Catechetical Instruction is also teaching folk what the word of God says and means with accuracy.Deuteronomy 26:1 And it shall be, when thou art come in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and possessest it, and dwellest therein; 2 That thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which thou shalt bring of thy land that the LORD thy God giveth thee, and shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name there.

If you expect a great harvest there are some principles of discovery that has to be implemented. The Deuteronomy 26 text clearly says that after God had delivered the Children of Israel He gave some specific orders. 1. When you come into the land that I promised you, STAY there. Don’t move,God has a blessing for you there. The obedience in the text is the learner’s ability to make a choice to listen. God says when you go to the land that I gave you’ll stay there. STAY THERE.. In other words don’t bunny hop from church to church village to village town to town or city to city.

Then 2. get it clear that it’s your in heritage God had of just for you. And the songwriter said What God have for me is for me 2x I know without a doubt He’ll bring me of. It is for me2x What God has for me is for me.

3. The text say in verse 2 then bring the best offering of the first fruits on your harvest. Alright in biblical time your harvest was your Friday Night I just got paid. And instead of doing something un-holy first God say bring your First Fruits.. I pay my tithes to both churches because the more you give the more God gives to you, so just keep on giving because it’s really true that you can’t beat God’s giving no matter how hard you try.. Give God the First Fruits 3x The Hebrew Transliteration for First Fruits is the word (Ray- sheeth) Reshiyth It literally means that before you give any money to anything else, put God’s money aside. Somebody said why you got to look up the Hebrew or the Greek or the Aramaic words because they are the original writing and they will give you the accurate interpretation of the text. So Ray sheeth means first fruits and first fruits means to Give God His money off the top before you give to anybody or anything else. And God will bless you beyond measure. Try it, if you think I’m lying. 3x.

And then 4. which thou shalt bring of thy land that the LORD thy God giveth thee, and shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name there. The last parts of verse 2 give specific instructions, Bring your tithes Put it in a basket In other word treat God’s money with dignity. Put the money in the basket..... Don’t be trying to make change during the offering… We stop that a long time ago. If you got a $100 then that’s what you meant to put up in the basket. Make change the night before because if you bring a $100 you meant to put that up. Furthermore the text explains that you ought to go to the place that God decided to place His name there. If you belong to Shiloh then bring your money to Shiloh. Because Shiloh is the place that God put His name there. I know other people got their churches but this is Shiloh MBC bible study.

And then if you look at the Deuteronomy 26 text carefully verse 3 says 3 And thou shalt go unto the priest that shall be in those days, and say unto him, I profess this day unto the LORD thy God, that I am come unto the country which the LORD sware unto our fathers for to give us. 4 And the priest shall take the basket out of thine hand, and set it down before the altar of the LORD thy God.

This means that you shouldn’t have a problem giving your tithes and putting your tithes in the Pastor’s hands. And the Pastor’s hands ought to clean and holy and pure and not sticky fingers!!! Because verse 4 says that the priest/ pastor / preacher/ teacher / leader shall take the basket full of money out of your hands and then place that money on the Altar before the Lord His God… There is an order of protocol. and if we have obedience and give of our first fruits, and bless our pastor, and bless our church everything else will be fine..

A good pastor knows not to take the people money and pocket it. and a good pastor knows that it takes money to make ministry effective and meaningful to the membership so that money goes into various fund banks to support different ministry outlooks.

And then the Deuteronomy 26 text teaches talks and tells us in verse to rehearse and reflect the story of how we made it over. Somebody got to tell the story of how God brought us up over and out from bondage. The Israelites were not the only people who had to utter Pharaoh let my people go. African American had to struggle and we still struggle with our civil rights. The Israelites rehearse this Exodus story all through out the bible. Here’s what they said in a nutshell. God brought us out of slavery made us a great nation and now God has brought us to a land that flows with milk and honey. And now that we are being prosperous with the land that God gave us we are giving back our tithes to God. It’s like this before you had a piece of job, you couldn’t pay no money!!! So now that you have more money than you ever had before in your life you ought to run down to the church house and bless the Lord with your giving. you ought to run down to the church house and bless your pastor, because those that hon or a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward.

And then the Deuteronomy 26 text the scriptures teach us in verse 10 And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land, which thou, O LORD, hast given me. And thou shalt set it before the LORD thy God, and worship before the LORD thy God: 11 And thou shalt rejoice in every good thing which the LORD thy God hath given unto thee, and unto thine house, thou, and the Levite, and the stranger that is among you.

Moses writes that now that God has made a way out of no way I’m going to set my offering before the Lord and worship before the Lord our God. When it’s giving time you ought to shout more then than any other time because the Lord has sustained you God fixed it so that you don’t go under. So we ought to worship Him in our giving. Worship 2x In the Hebrew vernacular Worship is (Saw-koo) Shachan. I don’t mind coming down and bowing myself before the Lord because the bible says they that WORSHIP the Lord must WORSHIP HIM in spirit and in truth.I’m not ashamed to worship the Lord I’m not ashamed to call on the Lord I’m not ashamed to bow myself down before God in the congregation Because God has been too good to me. Verse 10 says WORSHIP the Lord and verse 11 says bless other people other than yourself. And then the catechetical instruction that vitally important is in verse 12 When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled; 13 Then thou shalt say before the LORD thy God, I have brought away the hallowed things out of mine house, and also have given them unto the Levite and unto the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandments which thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed thy commandments, neither have I forgotten them: 14 I have not eaten thereof in my mourning, neither have I taken away ought thereof for any unclean use, nor given ought thereof for the dead: but I have hearkened to the voice of the LORD my God, and have done according to all that thou hast commanded me. 15 Look down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people Israel, and the land which thou hast given us, as thou swarest unto our fathers, a land that floweth with milk and honey. This text tells us that after the tither has properly tithed and given his or her best to God’s ministries, a hallowed request is made. You can’t make a hallowed request unless you’ve done hallowed thing to get a hallowed blessing… The request is in verse 15 Please Lord look down from heaven and bless us with the blessings that we stand in need of.. And Lord bless the fruit of our ground Lord this blesseth land that flows with milk and honey… And right there I’d say and Lord we are careful to give you the praise the honor and the glory. Yes Lord.

And then finally in verse 16 This day the LORD thy God hath commanded thee to do these statutes and judgments: thou shalt therefore keep and do them with all thine heart, and with all thy soul. 17 Thou hast avouched the LORD this day to be thy God, and to walk in his ways, and to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and to hearken unto his voice:18 And the LORD hath avouched thee this day to be his peculiar people, as he hath promised thee, and that thou shouldest keep all his commandments; 19 And to make thee high above all nations which he hath made, in praise, and in name, and in honour; and that thou mayest be an holy people unto the LORD thy God, as he hath spoken. Brothers and sisters it’s a command to tithe, and it’s a command to give God your very best, It’s a command to be obedient to all of God’s statues ordinances doctrines and commandments because at the end of the day we are what verse 18 says God’s peculiar people. That means that we are not like regular folk who are out in the world.
