Introduction

Some situations are just dead. There are relationships, journeys, and even churches despite what we may want to believe that are dead. A dead situation is one of the most difficult things to accept. The daunting thing about a dead situation is that a dead situation is beyond our control.
Albeit, a very popular text in the book of Ezekiel, The Dry Bones Live, it’s apparent that a few things happen in this text, God brought Ezekiel to the valley in effort to illustrate the power of what He could do for Israel. God has the ability to bring life to our lowest points. God can unify and give life to dead situations and dead people. We have the ability to encourage lifeless situations but it’s only after God has covered the situation can we encourage people through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Faith allows us to know that even if we are led to the valley’s of life God has us there for a reason. Faith allows us to know that even being sat in the midst of a dead and dry situation God has the power to revive that situation and give us the strength to speaking encouraging things to that situation.

God Brought Ezekiel to The Valley

Ezekiel 37:1-3 “The hand of the Lord came upon me and brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones. Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and indeed they were very dry. And He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” So I answered, “O Lord God, You know.”” “The hand of the Lord came upon me and brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones.”
Obedience often defies logic. Sometimes God leads us in directions we never thought we would go in.
Ezekiel is in a valley, not just any valley but a valley full of bones.
God brought him and God sat him in the midst. Be mindful of where God is leading you and where He allows you to sit down. There is a purpose in the place in which you are sitting even if it is surrounded by death!
1 Samuel 2:6 ““The Lord kills and makes alive; He brings down to the grave and brings up.”
Watch how God causes Ezekiel to operate
“He caused me to pass by them all around.
There were a lot of bones. The New Living Translation says they covered the valley floor.
and they were very dry.
God always gives time for us to diagnose and be patient in challenging situations.
Truth be told there will be instances that God leads us to situations or valley moments in which our response is “what do I do with this”?
Ezekiel provides some profound insight. God ask him a question, “Son of man can these bones live? Ezekiel answers that Only Lord God, You know. This answer is two sided.
It shows how powerless we are as humans.
It also shows that God’s ability is not dependent on our lack of ability. God can do whatever He desires.
Even the power of prophecy comes from God. He could only speak life into these bones after God commissioned him to do so.
Here in lies the problem with us today, we are trying to speak life into people and situations that God did not lead us to.
God led Ezekiel to the valley, God sat Ezekiel down in the midst of the dry bones. Understand that God is not going to bring us into a dead situation and be okay with us dying to! When God brings the prophet to a dead situation He is showing Him that if I can do this for Dry Bones, imagine what I can do for Israel if they trust and obey me.

God Brings Life to Low Points

Ezekiel prophesied as God commanded him to and here was a noise, some rattling, and a lot of Unity! Understand this powerful moment came in the valley surrounded by death.
It’s hard to find motivation in the midst of a dead situation where power used to be, where vigor used to be, where strength used to be. Nonetheless with God there’s no place that His power cannot reach.
The word of God should do a few things
The word of God should bring some things together, as Ezekiel prophesied bones started coming together, sinews and flesh began to cover the bones, the protectorate of skin began to cover the bodies.
The word of God should bring some excitement to a dead situation! The power of God does something amazing. Ezekiel goes from being a spokesman of human impotence into the spokesman of divine omnipotence. In other words our ability as humans is flawed it’s of no power compared to the mighty power of God.
John 6:63 “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”
This is the danger of hopelessness, hopelessness can lead to death and division. In effort for us to be in a place of thriving we have to open ourselves up to the spirit and the will of God.

God Can Unify and Give Life to Dead Situations and Dead Things

God doesn’t revive situations to be divided, with life comes unity! His spirit gives us life! This Prophecy is the word of God, that word stirred up a dead situation, what was dead came together first.
Understand that organization is not enough, activity only sustains us for so long we have to prepare the people to be receptive of God’s spirit. God gave just enough life for the dead to be prepare to be completely quickened.
What we can learn from Ezekiel is the fact that our obedience can give life to a dead situation. Ezekiel 37:9-10 “Also He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” ’ ” So I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army.”
God revives dead situations with specificity, it wasn’t just a group of people that were being revived. The bible says it was an army that was revived by the Lord.
God has the power to revive a situation! The divine Power of God, the Holy Spirit! It’s life but it’s a protection that comes with this life!
God gives us life, the dead move because of the breath of life that had entered them. The beauty of this story is the fact that God not only has the power to restore us physically but restore us spiritually.
This is a lesson for us!
We have to trust that God will revive the dead situations in our life.
We can’t let ourselves get discouraged by the dead situation! God sends blessings in all directions! Ezekiel 37:9 “Also He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” ’ ””
The blessings of God come from every direction! His reviving is incomparable! Many of us are dealing with a dead situation that is past our compass of revival! Will you trust and obey him to a place of revival or will you be caught up by the death and dryness that you give up?
