1 Peter 1:17-21 “And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.”
God sent Jesus to for us, yet Jesus is God. Sometimes it is confusing to think of the trinity being separate while still being one. Think of water. The composition is H2O, but it can exist in multiple states. If the temperature reaches 32 degrees Fahrenheit, it is ice. If the temperature reaches 212 Fahrenheit, the same water will boil, but the process of boiling causes the water to evaporate. Which creates steam or vapor, water in its gaseous state.
All three are H2O, but they exist in different states.
God sent Jesus Christ to die for our sins, and those who place their trust in Him gain the ability to call God Father. God is a good father. Matthew 7:8-11 tells us “For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!”
Not only will He supply our needs and listen to our requests, but we can call on Him in times of need. This word call here in verse 17 implies calling on a higher power like a judge. In accepting Christ we also have the opportunity to call on God as our defender and our protector. The one who will step into our matters and sort them out for us.
God is impartial when it comes to the people of the world. Regardless of who you are, or what you have done, He will judge you all the same. He is also impartial when it comes to His saints. It does not matter how grand of a title you may work for down here, the littlest of children will be listened to just the same as John MacArthur, or Piper, or David Platt, or any other well renowned person. He also saves impartially. You look at the thief on the cross. He could do nothing for God, yet he was still saved. The people of Neneviah were horrendous and Jonah hated them, but God saved them regardless. God saves whoever will accept the gospel, and the gospel is for everyone.
When you are saved, God becomes you Father. As you Father, He has ground rules to live by. Your parents had ground rules as well. Be home by 10. Keep the bedroom door open with mixed company. Do not cuss. Do not backtalk and disrespect. Pick up your cloths. ect. God has rules as well, and they guide a believer on a path of righteousness. We once walked in the way of the world, but now we have been plucked out and set apart. We are called exiles because we are away from our true home, heaven, but we are foreigners to those around us in the world.God’s rules and guidelines insure that we walk in a manner worthy of the title “Child of God” and paints a stark contrast between us and those who are of the world.
Carl Lentz, EX “pastor” of Hillsong church, said that he did not believe that Jesus was the only way to heaven. Oprah asked him “Do you believe that only Christians can be in relationship with God?” “I believe that when Jesus said ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life’ Jesus was saying that He was the road marker but God loves people so much that even though they reject Him He is still giving them red blinking lights.” We have one way to get into heaven, and that is through the placing of our faith and trust in Jesus Christ. The blood spilled was the offering for our sins, the faith placed in the capability of that offering and trusting that it is sufficient enough for you is the ticket. Nothing else. Not how much money we give, nor time, it is not how good we are in our daily walk, it is not in what we build for the church, or anything else. Jesus alone is the way.
You were bought. Paid for by a life. Imagine you go to a car lot searching of a vehicle to buy, and you see two cars on the car lot for sell. The first is a 2023 chevy corvette, top of the line, 0 miles on the engine, and not a single spec of dust. Next to it you have a 1987 honda accord that has dents and scrapes in its exterior, while 230,000 miles on its engine. Which do you think is of a higher value? Now compare your life to Christs. Who’s sacrifice would be more precious? An old beat up shameful sinner, or the precious and unblemished lamb of God? It is hopefully a no-brainer. Christ’s life was perfect, and undefiled. His sacrifice was more precious than anything we can imagine.
God, being omniscient, could see into the future understanding what Christ was going to have to do. This is why so early on in history, right at the fall of man, Jesus was prophesied to come into the world and crush the serpents head. The serpent (devil) introduced sin into the world through Adam and Eve. Jesus would eventually die, which is the bruise on His heal, but the crushing blow to the serpents head was the resurrection of the Christ after He was killed by the hands of men. Dead things remain dead unless given life back to them. Jesus Christ gave Himself His life back, which effectively destroyed the thought of death.
The prophets of old prophesied about the coming of Jesus, the preachers of the NT professed Christ as Lord, and we continue to share who Christ is and what He has done for us to this day. The unblemished Lamb of God, sacrificed for the sins of the world, buried, and resurrected to give us life in Him. The absolute only way to the Father in heaven. Believe it, preach it, make sure the world knows it!
