Parenting with Kingdom Purpose (Relationship Factors and Spiritual Impact on Children)
RELATIONSHIP FACTORS AND SPIRITUAL IMPACT ON CHILDRENRelationship factors between parents and children dramatically impact the degree of spiritual impact parents have. Parents who want more impact have to deepen relationships, but that can’t happen until they get new insights into their own emotional makeup.Nonreflective ParentingParents who are clueless about how their own personalities are impacting their children are destined to weak parenting.CLINICAL OBSERVATION♦ “The unwillingness of parents to look at the truth about themselves and their kids is called nonreflection. Operating nonreflectively (with little or no awareness of motivational forces within) is the single most important obstacle to effective parenting.”Consequences of Nonreflective Parenting♦ No GrowthNonreflective parents seldom mature. They never get to know why they feel the way they do or how effective they could be.♦ Automatic ResponsesNonreflective parents react to their kids on the basis of their own needs. Automatic responses are only temporary and usually have no long-term impact on [children].♦ DistanceNonreflective parents remain at an emotional distance from their kids. The parent-child relationship suffers.
faith of kids are reflective of the parent
Parenting with Kingdom Purpose The Faith of the Young Will Mirror that of Key Adults
THE FAITH OF THE YOUNG WILL MIRROR THAT OF KEY ADULTS
Children and teenagers need parents and other adults in their lives who have a genuine, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ. They need adults to have such a kingdom faith because they will grow up to be much like them.
