FAITH WITH QUESTIONS
FAITH WITH QUESTIONS
How many of you have ever met someone that just asked too many questions? A kid, a friend. “Why? Where? What? How? Are we there yet?
I wanna take you back to kid you. Dad tells you we have to go somewhere. You have no say on where the place in but dad says we gotta go so you go. You just trust that your father has a plan and knows best. That’s a lot what faith in God looks like. You may not know the destination you may not know what the ride will look like but you get in because your good father says you need to.
7 You know, then, that those who have faith, these are Abraham’s sons.
9 Consequently, those who have faith are blessed with Abraham, who had faith.
HE IS THE MAN OF FAITH
A lot of people in the Bible had faith but Abraham consistently walked with God even when he had questions
8 By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and set out for a place that he was going to receive as an inheritance. He went out, even though he did not know where he was going.
Genesis 12-25 show us his whole life
1 The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you.
He was living in a pagan city. One that wanted nothing to do with God. Abraham does not know God but God shows up and tells him He has a plan for him. Abraham is 65. He leaves and goes to Haran for 10 years. in 10 years there is no new word from God. 10 years later God appears again and says “GO”.
A lot of people God has spoken to and given direction to and 10 years later nothing has happened and nothing will happen until you do what God first told you to do. Until you are obedient nothing new or powerful will happen.
2 I will make you into a great nation, I will bless you, I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, I will curse anyone who treats you with contempt, and all the peoples on earth will be blessed through you. 4 So Abram went, as the Lord had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. 5 He took his wife, Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated, and the people they had acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan. When they came to the land of Canaan, 6 Abram passed through the land to the site of Shechem, at the oak of Moreh. (At that time the Canaanites were in the land.) 7 The Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring, I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the Lord who had appeared to him.
20 years had passed and now God speaks to him and is starting to unfold things because Abram has started taking those steps of faith.
WHEN GOD SAYS GO… GO!
If you want a life where you are seeing God move, work, make a way, you have to Go when God says go even when you have questions. Even when you don’t understand even when it’s not comfortable.
He tells him to leave. Everything that makes sense to him. Everything that was comfortable to him. He originally tells him to leave his relatives and he ends up taking them with him.
WHEN WE AMEND GOD’S PLAN WE ENCOUNTER DELAYS. Partial obedience is disobedience. Delayed obedience is disobedience.
WHAT IS GOD ASKING YOU TO LEAVE BEHIND. A habit? A relationship? A group of friends? An emotion that you’ve been hanging onto to cope. THE LIFE OF FAITH IS A LIFE OF LEAVING.
SOMETIMES GOD TELLS YOU TO LEAVE BUT DOESN’T TELL YOU WHERE YOU ARE GOING
8 By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and set out for a place that he was going to receive as an inheritance. He went out, even though he did not know where he was going.
ABRAHAM was called and did you know that every believer has a calling?
CALLING: is a divinely ordained reasons for being that God gives ever believer so that you can be blessed to be a blessing.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.
Before time began you had a calling
1 The Lord said to Abram: Go from your land, your relatives, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. 2 I will make you into a great nation, I will bless you, I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
as long as you have to have every question answered as long as you have to know how all of it will work out you will never live a life of faith
ORIGINAL LANGUAGE “WHILE BEING CALLED HE WENT”. No delay. The longer you wait the less likely you are to do it. Delay dulls God’s word in your life.
IF GOD IS THE ONE THAT TOLD YOU TO GO then where you are going doesn’t matter because you will find fulfillment and peace like you have never known. This is the promise of Jesus at the end of the Gospels. GO and remember I WILL BE WITH YOU.
GOD KNOWS WHAT HE HAS FOR YOU and what he has for you is better than what you have for you. THE BIGGEST QUESTION THAT KEEPS PEOPLE FROM GIVING THEIR LIVES TO JESUS from following God’s plan for their life is this: “What if my way is better? What if i start down this road and it doesn’t end up like I think it will? What if I start tithing and my finances don’t work out? What if I leave this relationship and I feel worse than before or I end up alone? What if I give my life to Jesus what will others think what if it doesn’t help?
CAN YOU IMAGINE BEING ABRAHAM standing next to the UHAUL and telling people you don’t know where you are going? Abraham not knowing what God would do, knows less about God’s faithfulness than we know now goes without question. GOD TELLS YOU ENOUGH TO TAKE THE FIRST STEP
SAVED. REDEDICATED. GIVING. BAPTISM. SERVING.
THE LONGER YOU WAIT THE LESS LIKELY YOU WILL BE TO DO IT. We have to have a faith that moves when God says Go.
WITH GOD FAITH IS BETTER THAN SIGHT
7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.
When you step out in faith it will go against every bit of instinct, every bit of common sense, the advice of some you care about. But that faith is better than your sight.
IF OUR LIVES ARE GUIDED by what makes sense to us and what we can see they will never be guided by God and we will miss out on HIS plan and we will always be wondering why we are not seeing God move, not feeling God in our lives like we had before.
TERRIBLE GRADES — GO TO BIBLE COLLEGE — NO MONEY FOR COLLEGE — GRANDMA SAVED BUT NOT FOR BIBLE COLLEGE — “HOW PAY FOR HOUSE”? PARSONAGE — FIRST JOB HAD PARSONAGE — GO TO FELLOWSHIP — C3 YEARS LATER — ZAK WHITE REVOLUTION CHURCH SUPPORT — KATY KLOBERDANZ — GO TO ABQ — FAITH GRAHAM — HOUMA — LIFE CHURCH — PASTOR SUPPORT — HURRICANE IDA — CHAD DUCOTE SPEAKING NEXT WEEK
SO WHAT DO WE DO? God makes it simple we make it complicated. Just do what God has asked you to do. What did he ask you to do that you didn’t do? Haven’t got baptized get baptized it’s that simple. Saved? Accept Jesus as your savior today it’s that simple.
GOD IS PUTTING THE PIECES TOGETHER. And even though we cannot see the whole picture we have to by faith believe that this piece he’s asking us to place is leading to something bigger and greater than we could ever understand.
