WORSHIP

Generosity Moment

“Growing a Spirit of Generosity”

Generous, joyful giving is a powerful practice which unleashes many blessings from God and offers us the peace of mind that we are obeying Him.
It also provides us the opportunity and privilege of watching God work through us to build His Kingdom.
Let’s see what the Bible has to say about giving.
POINT 1: Proverbs 3:5-10: We MUST Trust, Seek, Fear the Lord, and Honor God with our wealth.
POINT 2: 2 Corinthians 8:1-4: They gave themselves to God first and they kept giving even in challenging times they begged Paul to let them give. The results was they had abundant joy.
POINT 3: 1 Corinthians 13:3: Love should be our primary motive for giving.
POINT 4: 1 John 3.17
1 John 3:17 NLT
If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?
Ouch! Could it be that “SELFISHNESS” still rules over our hearts at times. Providing for those around us can be seen as a hand-out instead of a hand-up. Nevertheless, the Word says
Proverbs 19:17 NLT
If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord and he will repay you!

LESSON

WALKING THROUGH THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS
From Isaiah we discovered…
Isaiah 43:10 (NLT)
10 “But you are my witnesses, O Israel!” says the Lord.
“You are my servant.
You have been chosen to know me, believe in me,
and understand that I alone am God.
There is no other God—
there never has been, and there never will be.
We are witnesses
We are servants
We have been chosen
God alone is God
There is no other God
There never has been any other God, and
There never will be another God.
From Nahum we discovered three more things about God:
Nahum 1:7 The Message
God is good, a hiding place in tough times. He recognizes and welcomes anyone looking for help,
God is Good.
God is a strong protector when trouble comes.
God is close to us as we trust in Him.
Then we found 7 Redemptive Names of our Jehovah God:

7 Redemptive Names of God

In all of our situations God has already met our needs
In our LACK
Jehovah-Jireh You are my Provider
When we FEEL ALONE
Jehovah-Shammah You are Present with me.
In ANXIETY
Jehovah-Shalom You are my Peace.
In our WEAKNESS
Jehovah-Nissi You are my Victory.
In need of GUIDANCE
Jehovah-Roi You are my Shepherd.
In our WAYWARDNESS
Jehovah- Tsidkenu You are my Righteousness.
In our SICKNESS
Jehovah-Rapha You are my Healer.
SO WE SEE GOD AS OUR “SUSTAINER”

Key Point

How would you answer this question?
When was God the Greatest?
at creation?
sending all the plagues to turn Pharaoh's heart?
parting the red sea?
causing the ax head to float in the water?
HOW ABOUT WHEN HE
When He—“CALLED US OUT OF DARKNESS INTO HIS MARVELOUS LIGHT?”
1 Peter 2:9 NLT
But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
or
Or when He—SENT CHRIST TO DIE FOR US WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS?
Romans 5:8–9 NLT
8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. 9 And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation.
Or when He—REACHED OUT THROUGH THE DARKNESS, FOUND US--HIS ENEMIES AND RECONCILED US TO BE HIS VERY OWN.
Colossians 1:21–22 NLT
21 This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. 22 Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.

YOU AND ME ARE HIS GREATEST CREATION

God is wasn't lonely and then created us—He is God.

Yet he created us to worship him and to fellowship with him
John 14:12 NLT
12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.
John 14:15–17 NLT
15 “If you love me, obey my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.

Make it personal

You are the Hands and Feet of Jesus!
(ask Annette to come to the platform)
Like the song by Zack Williams “Heart of God”says…
No, He's not sittin' there shakin' His head Writin' you off, leavin' you lost
He's not sittin' there shakin' His head Wishin' He'd never went to that cross
He's not sittin' there shakin' His head Writin' you off, leavin' you lost
He's not sittin' there shakin' His head He went to that cross, He went to that cross 'Cause He loves you so much!
