Household Chores: I have 4 children—that means there are 6 people living at our house… Chores to do… When I give instruction, I need to be clear as to how I want it done and I need to help my kids understand the value or purpose in doing them. We are most effective in any endeavor we undertake when we recognize its value—the purpose behind it. (give some other examples)

Main Point: As God’s people, we are called to praise the Lord in response to our personal experience with the God of the universe.

The Object of Our Worship

1. Because he is the Infinite God (2-3)

He is the infinite God and will be worshiped in all places and at all times and by all people. But he is not worshiped by all people at all times. So God has determined that he would call out some people at every time and in every location to worship him.

We are chosen to represent him in a particular time and place (2-3).

The worship of God

Israel was chosen for this—Ex. 19:5-6
Those in Christ have been chosen for this —1 Peter 2:9
We are called
We are equipped
We are sent

The Extent of our Worship

The servants of God have seen who God truly is—the God on high who is above all things—includuing the other nations. We worship the God who is the creator of all things and in whom all being exists. He is YHWH and he is completely above us
Praise YHWH
Praise the Name YHWY
Transcendant God
But he is OUR GOD...

The Reasons for our Worship

He is a good God who sees real people and reaches into our day to day. He did this with Hannah and countless others in the Scripture. We who know jesus have experienced his goodness. this is an essential part of his character.
His goodness is never better displayed than what we see in the gospel.
