The meaning of a three legged race: ( Dictionary definition ) -
A three legged race is a running event involving pairs of participants running with the left leg of one runner strapped to the right leg of another runner. The objective is for the partners to beat the other contestant pairs to the finish line. Now for this to happen both partners must be in unity with each other by placing there hand around each others waste and stepping together.
Now understanding the three legged race of Christ
Now understanding the three legged race of Christ
Now unlike the standard three legged race that we know of it’s not a race of winning or a competitive race again another . It a race of faith , love , relationship and unity and above all trust in God. I would say this is a walking race of life building our faith in Christ .
Now let’s get into the 3 main part of the 3 legged race with Christ.
Now let’s get into the 3 main part of the 3 legged race with Christ.
1: Faith
1: Faith
2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)
For we walk by faith, not by sight.
Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV)
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
( The three legged race is a race of faith in God it build’s your relationship trust ( faith ) unity and love for Christ . )
Faith is trusting in God throughout the trial and tribulation . Without it relationship with him is impossible. Looking at Hebrews 11:6 states this.
Hebrews 11:5 (NKJV)
By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
Now there are three part of faith. The first is Faith it self. Faith it self as we see it throughout scripture. Meaning give your heat soul and mind to God allow your will to be his and trusting God . We see this in the book of Hebrews 11:1 -3 throughout “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. ( By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” now furthermore if we look in the scripture pertaining to Faith we come across a story in the book of 1 kings 17:8 - 16 . ) This is a story about a man of God being led by God to go to a place in which he knows not of that a woman that truly does not know him will house him for some time. Now put a pin in that we will come back to that .
The How (Relationship Building )
The How (Relationship Building )
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Now taking it back we see the word he is ,but we also see But without faith it is impossible to please Him , for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. ( Now the question here is 1. How , 2 Why , 3 who
Will the 3 question is already answered throughout scripture it’s talking about Jesus , God the Father and the Holy Spirit. Now what about Why and How.
The Why :
The Why :
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
Now the 2 question is Why and with that I say Unity. Looking back at John 15:5 . When looking at this scripture this comes to mind. Jeremiah 29:11-14 . This simply mean there is two type’s of will’s The will of God and the will of self ,but there is a third will which is the will of enemy ,but that can be intertwine with self will ( That's basically throwing God away take him completely out the picture ) . Now looking at Unity . This is a aspect of exchanging your will for God’s will by choosing to give and live a life of pray , studying , trust faith and love unto God and building a relationship with Him as the father has with the son and son has with the father. Truly meaning the same type of relationship that Christ has with the Father he what with you or with us.
( The How ) or The second part of Unity which is obedience .
( The How ) or The second part of Unity which is obedience .
The bible speaks in the book of Matthew 26 : 36 - 42 “Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.” And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.” He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.””
Now this show the first aspect of obedience through Christ instead of giving up on his purpose that God intended for him to go through he instead trusted God. Now speaking of trusting God. Going back to the story of 1 Kings 17:8-16 “Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, indeed a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup, that I may drink.” And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.” So she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.” And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. For thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, no…” ( We see a two part step of obedience Both from Elijah and from the Women. If Elijah wouldn't have gone to where God spoke and told him to go then the women and her son would have perished, but at the same time if the woman would have not listened to what the word of the Lord spoke. she would have perished and missed her blessing . remember this was the word of the Lord not Elijah's words. God answered her prayers without her realizing it and all it took was obedience. ) when it comes to Unity and obedience they always run side-by-side or in this case when it comes to Elijah in the woman a two-step of of unity and obedience.
In my closing
In my closing
Now to all my sisters and brothers in Christ and those who would love to know Him even the more and still growing. Now we are all still growing.
We all make mistakes and fall , but it is to us by the grace of God to getup and keep growing in him and building a better relationship with Him. No matter if we waiver from Him or Slack behind when he call us to him or go ahead of him thinking we can do it on on own our own.
Son , Daughters and Children of God the grace is still here for us to come back and stay with him and trust, love and build a stronger relationship with Him and keeping the in mind Psalm 119:11
Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
( My end statement ) A reminder for the saints of God. The race that we are going through is not a race of running. It’s a race of endurance a race of love and faith building and trust in Him WHO IS AND IS TO COME.
