INTRO
Good morning, friends, we’re so glad you have tuned in to hear God’s Precepts and Promises this morning brought to you by the Rome Church of Christ.
We’re examining Christianity systematically--taking all the Bible has to say on a subject and putting it together as best as possible.
Letting the Bible speak
Today we want to look at angels
Definition: angels are intelligent, moral, spiritual beings created by God to worship Him and do His will.
DISCUSSION
Angels made by God (Neh 9:6)
Angels are messengers of God
Angels minister to God
Announced the conception to Mary (Lk 1:26-28)
Appeared to Joseph (Mt 1:20-21)
Sent to Egypt (Mt 2:13, 20)
Ministered to Him after the temptation (Mt 4:11)
Strengthened Him at Gethsemane (Lk 22:43)
Announced the Resurrection (Lk 24:4-7)
Announced His Ascension (Acts 1:10)
Will come with Him at the 2nd Coming (Mt 25:31; 2 Thess 1:7-9)

Q: What is death?
A: Death is the separation of the soul and body (Jam 2:26; Gen 35:18). Man has two parts. without soul, the body is dead.
The number of angels (Dan 7:10 Mt 26:53; Heb 12:22; Rev 5:11)
Nature of angels
Not glorified human begins (Mt 22:30—like the angels but not angels; difference in men and angels (Heb 12:22-23; Ps 8:5)
Spiritual beings—without a physical body (Heb 1:7, 14; Eph 6:12)
More knowledgable than men but not all-knowing (2 Sam 14:20; Mt 24:36; 1 Pet 1:11-12)
Stronger than man but not all powerful (2 Pet 2:11; Ps 103:20; 2 Thess 1:7; Acts 5:19; 12:7; Mt 282)
Ranks and names
An archangel 1 Th 4:16; Jude 9-Michael
Michael one of the chief princes (Dan 10:13)
fought the dragon (Rev 12:7-8)
Names of angels—Gabriel (Dan 8:16; 9:21; Lk 1:19; 26-27) and Michael (Dan 10:21)
Dt 29:29 “The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.”
Angels magnify God
Chief purpose is the same as ours: Glorify God
Is 6:2-3; Rev 4:8
CONCLUSION
Sum: The angels of God ushered man out of the Paradise of God (Eden) and they with Christ coming in glory will usher the redeems back to the Paradise of God (Gen 3:24; 2 Thess 1:6-9; Rev 2:7)
