His Kingdom come
Robert, don't be shaken! 2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. A major earthquake struck Taiwan over the weekend, which triggered a tsunami warning as far away as Japan. This reminded me of when we first moved to Israel in 2003. I was in my Hebrew class downtown, and my wife and one-month-old baby were alone in our Jerusalem apartment. My wife called me immediately, and this is what she told me; I'll never forget it. She was sitting in our bedroom with our 1-month-old in her arms when out of nowhere came a sudden loud roaring sound, followed by a shaking of all four walls and all the contents within banging back and forth against them rapidly and with great force. So many things were going through her mind at that moment as she tried to remember what you're supposed to do in a scenario like this. Are you supposed to get under the bed? Or maybe get outside? Yeah, outside! But it would be three flights of steps to get outside, and with a newborn baby in her arms -- how?! She just froze in fright, thinking about what could happen next. But in the midst of it all, Riv looked down at Elianna in her arms. Would you believe she was perfectly content -- happy, smiling, even drifting off to sleep as the whole earth shook all around her. Wow. Each of us can take a lesson from Elianna. Even in the midst of all the chaos, distress, or crises beyond our control, we must rest, trusting that we're safe in the loving arms of the Father. We shouldn't have a care in the world. Robert, is your world being shaken right now? Know that God is holding you today. No matter what you're facing, you can trust Him to cover you. Just lay back and enjoy the ride! Your family in the Lord with much agape love, George, Baht Rivka, & Obadiah Baltimore, Maryland
And this is another fine day in the Lord
Luke 11:1–2 (NASB95) — 1 It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, after He had finished, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray just as John also taught his disciples.” 2 And He said to them, “When you pray, say: ‘Father, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come.
If we are to model the life of Christ as Christ imagers, then should it be that we should go to the master of Prayer and asked ourselves to be mentored in the service of prayer.
And Jesus did teach his disciples. We find his pupils all through the book of Acts committed to Prayer.
Shall we begin ourselves asking the Lord to teach us to pray.
The Model prayer begins like it is that we would write a letter. We put on it the name and the address of whom this prayer is going to.
That means that prayer in itself has no merit. A Pagan can pray to an idol or to the stars or just send up a random prayer but without a name and an address it goes no where.
Our Father who occupies the heavens Holy is your name.
The Prayer is outside the box you might say to the Jews that are living in the time.
You see it was in the age of Israel over lapping the age of the gentiles but the church age had not began. This was a transitional period by way of the dispensational age. Jesus’ audience were primarily Jews. Jews who were under the Law.
What did the Jews know of their God. He was the God behind the vale. The God in the temple in whom once a year it was allowed for only the high priest to step through that vale on the day of atonement.
Aloof really. Would anyone think to call God their Father?
The knew their God by for letters YHWY. They used letters because they thought God’s name was say sacred you could not use it. and really the name Yahweh adding the vowels is only a guess at the pronunciation.
Another name would be Adonai which means LORD.
In the Heavens speaks of God’s Sovereign reign over all things. R.C. Sproul is quoted of saying that there is not one single rebellious molecule that God is not sovereign over.
Now Jesus who says that He is the God of all the Heavens, and we are to call Him Father. This was not the practice of the Jews at all.
Again, what Father hides behind a curtain out of sight of His children?
Makes me a little curious of the conversations that were taking place after hearing this what the people were thinking in their Jewish minds.
Jesus had a conversation the Samaritan woman at the well.
John 4:19–24 (NASB95) — 19 The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. 20 “Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you people say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.” 21 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. 22 “You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 “But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. 24 “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
The Jews sitting and listening to Jesus on the mount and the woman at the well may have been left with some unanswered questions. Maybe even some confusion as they leaned upon their own understanding, own presuppositional ideals and their own traditions. But coming was a promise of the Holy Spirit that would teach things to them and bring to mind those things that they had been previously taught such as this sermon on them mount.
It will be through the spirit that the believers will come to worship God and as this spirit will testify to their human spirits, they will come to understand God as and will call Him Father.
Yes, the Holy One of the Heavens is Yours and my Father.
New things were coming. things that I’m sure was contradictory to the Jewish mind.
Our most earnest prayer to the Lord is
Teach me pray Lord
Teach me how to love you more.
Matthew 6:10 (NASB95) — 10 ‘Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.
Question: why are we to pray for a Kingdom that is destined to come?
Does God need our prayers to bring about the Kingdom?
Is the kingdom somehow postpone if we don’t pray?
The Kingdom is a geopolitical government of heaven, that is future in coming and is when the Christ as the Last Adam will rule the earth and when Satan is locked away along with his accomplices for thousand years.
It is when there comes a restoration of what God had purposed from the beginning of creation.
The point is contrary to many religious schools of thought is this.
1. We are not living in the Kingdom.
2. The Church is not building the Kingdom
3. the kingdom is a literal kingdom, not a spiritual kingdom where Christ rules in our hearts.
My question is when did the great commission change from going out in all of the world to make disciples and baptizing them in the name of father son and holy Spirit to constructing the earthly kingdom.
Because considering that even in the bible belt there is so much biblical illiteracy and confusion among Christians and that so few can even defend their faith that churches are not equipping the saints.
The Kingdom will be established by God when the Lord comes to set up His earthly Kingdom.
When God created man, He created him in perfection male and female God created them. And he placed man in the garden in Eden. This garden was on a high elevation a mountain even for water flowed out from that mountain to branched into four rivers.
It must have been a sight.
That was dominion Ruler’s Headquarters.
Genesis 1:26–28 (NASB95) — 26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
The environment was perfect and all was in the harmony with God. Heaven and earth joined together.
And man in his perfection ruled over it.
When God said that it was very Good it was a time when all was done on earth as it was in heaven.
That is until the rebellion.
When the dominion ruler chose to sin against and break God’s law all that changed.
Man became a fallen creature. It also left a void in rulership where Satan stepped in and set himself as the ruler of this dark world.
Satan is the leader of the world rebellion against God’s authority.
But what God purposed from the beginning God is seeking to bring back to its former glory as God had designed it to be.
He tells the serpent Satan
Genesis 3:15 (NASB95) — 15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise him on the heel.”
